I said i'm surprised people don't understand it, everythig is explained in the plot yet people here are surprised by what's happened.

The women getting wet over MC in season 1 was all about the pheromones. He lost those and the only people still interested were those he'd built a bond with.

There was never a harem set up, it was purely sex. The only ones to go deeper were Nicky and Vicky and that's when it started to steer towards the choice.

At the start of Season 2 you were given a choice of who to share the bed with, that was the big hint that it was down to those 3.

Vicky and Nicky were both looking for a relationship, not to share. They agreed to carry on until Jensen made his mind up who he wanted. Eve didn't believe he would be interested in her until later on.

Jensen himself has shown no signs of wanting multiple partners. He even said his problems would be solved with a harem but that's not who he is.

People keep bringing up the sex from season 1 like it mattered, it didn't. It was only a thing while Jensen had his pheromones, as soon as they were gone the sex party stopped. He hasn't done anything at all throughout season 2 given that he nearly died and spent it recovering.

The only people having sex in season 2 were the lesbians and his sister.

The devs have been up front from the start both with narrative in game and on the forums that Jensen would only ever get 1 woman.

This is what surprises me, it's all in the game yet people seem to have invented their own narrative with some putting far too much importance on sex scenes from the first season.

I don't expect everyone to like it, I never once said anything about that, my whole point here has been just how many people either didn't understand the plot or completely ignored it.

Unfortunately, sometimes people only hear / read what they want to. This game never had a harem tag, and the developers said multiple times there would be no harem or incest. Add to that the points you made (the characters' dialogues make it clear there never would be one, the super sex party was only a result of pheromones, and all but a small set of characters went their own way and haven't returned for the MC again) and it's very clear a choice would have to be made. Anyone paying attention even moderately well should have seen the choices of Season 3 coming from miles away.

I think it's one hell of an achievement to completely ignore everything said in the game and by the devs on the forum then act like you've been strung along for missing out on a harem that never existed.

That's some next level dodge ball skills as they managed to avoid every single plot point and every comment made by the devs that made the 3 main girls clear during season 1.

No harem tag and not even a single hint at a harem, even the girls mentioned they wanted a 1 on 1 relationship...

Then someone else not only managed to dodge the games plot but also explanations by several people on the forum about what went on with Jensen losing his abilities went completely over their heads and they carried on arguing over a point they didn't even understand...

Either we've been trolled hard or people managed to skip everything in the game and just made up their own narrative then blamed the devs when the actual narrative didn't match their own.

I've had period cramps less painful than dealing with some people on these forums.

There is no interactivity, your decisions don't affect the story, so It's not a game, just a linear novel.

It's ok if a lot of people like this novel, but it shouldn't be in the Adult Games category. That's all.

Look, there are plenty — literally hundreds — of games on F95 where a harem is possible (or even planned). Retrieving the Past isn't a game for you if harem is what you're wanting. That doesn't make this latest season some kind of bait-and-switch as implied. It just means you misunderstood the point of the story. The basic plot has been, all along, that there is some secret government program that has at least partially gotten out of hand. (And, ofc, more details and plot points have been introduced as things have progressed.)

It's been incredibly clear since at least Series/Season 2 that a harem isn't going to happen. Nearly all the women from S1 stopped going after the MC's cock and moved on with things. For instance, while Mei still loves the MC, she's not in love with him anymore. The Nicky-Vicky branch has been made clearly since even S1; they would force you to make a choice. (Hell, the MC himself says he'll need to choose.) Amber is actually his daughter, and when you see the choice for Nicky (pursue romantically or not) it's clear that the MC isn't OK with incest; so that rules Amber out.

If you had the impression that there might be a harem and this were still S1, I could understand, but any illusions of that should have been lost by playing through S2. I understand that you are disappointed, but the good news is that there are loads of harem games. If you haven't already played them, you might consider Midlife Crisis, Parental Love, Polarity, Soul of the Paintings, WVM, Bad Bobby Saga, Bad Company, Lust Epidemic, Harem Hotel, or Harem Resort — just to name a few off the top of my head. All of those either have strongly established paths for a harem or are specifically set up for the MC to build a harem.

i played each single update and till this update it never changed to a single choose direction before and the MC was told he have to choose in the part where he is on the boat and talk with his friend ^^ I mean i enjoy the story and much more in this game , but as i was telling when a game start with harem and then after long time it gets a update and the first choice you have to make is destroy the feelings that comes from the start of the game. And yes i played the other games too and many without harem route , it´s not my first thing to look for it in a game
But when a Game building up a story with harem system and the it switches so aprubt means moodkiller for me . The Gamae and story itself was always good , but the way it goes now isnt something that matches the story anymore as it was built up .

The girls were never the central point to the story, they are the icong so to speak. The main focus is what's going on with Adam and that group.

Like Knobble says, it's a story based game with porn elements, the porn is secondary.

They put everything about what will happen with the girls upfront so there can be no mistakes but that was only ever the tip of the game.



Seriously, if you are going to make a troll post at least do it well.

I wanted to do a AL type choice based game but I lack the coding skills. (I even lack the ability to type correctly, ask Rogue)

I DID NOT want to make same type of novel/game that are 90% presented here on F95 and in VN porn world. Linear style seemed best and the little bit of coding (Mostly DocPink helped a lot at start of RTP with my coding) I decided to give players a choice to choose one girl. Was mostly Rogue before joining the team that suggested I do this.

I'd love a review from you. I am sorry you were expecting something else and then got this... But "this" is what I am giving to everyone.
I will not change my/our vision, I will not apologise for not giving everyone a Harem/Incest. If people do not like that, by all means there are other games that do have those kinks and I enjoy them too...

But explain to me how you get to that analysis of it setup as Harem?

and the fact Jensen could develop bonds with other women but still have to chose just one to progress the story is a nice nod to realism and the struggle, we devilishly handsome dudes have to face, women swarm around us and we, if we want to develop a relationship, have to man up and make our pick. I wish he could have decided no blow job or sex with Mei Lin early on. Seems like there should have been a third option, but all in all it is a good story. I am eager to see how it turns out in the rematch between Adam and the newly enhanced Jensen. Although Eve seems like a perfect match for Jensen she and Nicky are both a bit young. In all my comments, I like to make clear that is "just my opinion" and i know my opinions could be pretty "unpopular", but i also know what people want and what they don't (or at least, have a guess ), but that doesn't mean i talk for them or that you should change you content to please them, I never said the game was bad, that was just MY impressions and expectations about the game.
Also, i tend to write very occasionally and only to refer to some specific points (for exemple, I wouldn't write a review just to throw compliments at something, there a lot of other people for this already), so most users didn't reply me directly (i'd like to know their opinions too), probably most of my replies are from the own devs.

I think most people on here (including myself) use the term harem loosely as referring to having sex with multiple girls. Season 1 was action packed full of sex scenes with girls left and right for Jensen. Season 2 he spent most of his time recovering and side characters had sex with other side characters. Honestly, season 2 didn't seem as fulfilling as season 1 but Jensen's baby daddy drama and Eve's presence helped to pull me through. Season 3's beginning ends any hope for a harem and that's okay with me because Jensen isn't that kind of guy plus you can finally choose the girl you want (Vicky for me).

I see all the building blocks in Retrieving the Past for an even better adult VN next time around. Even if the next game is not heavily harem based just the fact the main character will operate by a different set of rules than Jensen opens up many possibilities. I like Jensen's story but I think your next project is going to be straight fire.

I agree with you, it's you are making the game, so it's you must to make the main decisions about the game story and follow the original plan.
When the project was presented, you already said the game will be linear(for those are complaining about the lack of options) with focus on the story and if the player pays attention to the dialogues(mainly the dialogues from the season two), the script was very clear about the final choice from MC and he was just confused about all the happening around him(serum, girls and enemies), but he had to make a decision. The same thing happened with Dr. Pink in Acting Lessons, when the players wanted a love triangle between the protagonist, Megan and Melissa, but the game creator said no and the whining started there.
So, I applause to your decision the same way I applauded to the Dr. Pink decision, because every time one Dev listens some player about certain content(because they want) and he changes the game because of that, he'll get just more stress during its development, losing his love to the project and at extreme cases, he abandons this one. You make the game you like and plan it, Retrieving from the Past is in development by MrKnobb and the choice is yours.

I don't understand something. The doctor had a "medicine" for Jensen prepared by Adam and ... Eveline? I understood it on the phone. If Eveline is a possible girl to get, why was she supposed to help Adam weaken Jensen and prepare this 'medicine'? Now Eveline cares for us, heals us. Something I misunderstood or how?

Eve had nothing to do with Adam's plan. The doctor didn't know Adam was one of the "bad guys" until it was too late.

Eve gave Jensen an upgraded serum to save his life.
