I think AI has a place supporting devs in the background.I know AI is obviously controversial, but I do wonder if in a few years there will be a suitable and efficient workflow for VN devs to use it to "upscale" normal renders to make them look more realistic. Getting facial expressions to look right is the hardest, but there are workflows out there to do it, its just incredibly resource intensive and complicated.
By this - I mean:
Utilizing AI to help code so, for example:
* Combining animations and different audio files, like music and SFX, so they are properly synched
* Updating the script file by taking the dev's written story and imagery and adding them into the script file and then automatically preparing a test build at the end of scene so the dev can do a quality control review
* Having AI search for assets for upcoming scenes and providing the dev with a file containing links and imagery so the dev can choose what works best to support his/her vision
* Having an AI 'smart' enough to review a que of completed renders and identify which fall outside designated parameters (have errors) so the dev can reduce time spent on post work and focus on what did not actually turn out right.
I think devs should maintain primacy in writing, vision of creation, actual imagery and animation creation, and final review.
Part of great AVN story telling is, for at least some devs, the way they enhance the story through facial expressions.
A dev that turns this over to an AI is giving up telling Their story in favor of what that particular AI has been taught to do via some form of machine learning. Output is, at best, a blended estimate of what AI has been taught to provide.
The AI rev would not have a 'human' soul - or spark of creativity and cannot, IMO, give us better than a good or better dev.
Going much further gets into existential discussions about what constitutes creativity etc., and I have not had enough coffee for that yet (if ever
Now, I am off to enjoy another dev's creation and look for another good/great story!
Cheers!!
