Very educational, great lesson in Things not to do when making a game. Ren'Py is a great engine, yet so many devs insist on disabling everything that makes it a great engine.

I'm aware about that Renpy have that list and one of the points is related to the save option. Renpy is not making my game and I doubt that they are aware about the lack of reading dialogues. The reason why I've made it slightly more difficult to save a certain points is simply that the game idea is ruined if you easily can save at any time. Maybe my decision was wrong but that will not be changed before next game that will be released in 2027

Agree that some Renpy features (rollback and infinite saves especially) can turn games with certain mechanics into little more than a porn hunt. Not at all criticizing Room for Rent, I love this game, story, and an almost innocuous feeling, light-handed presentation of a corruption game (MC is doing crazy dark manipulative things and the girls are so malleable - you've got the balance between ultra creepy stuff presented as being for everyone's benefit and self-improvement, just about perfect), and I am especially enjoying the new girls and story developments from the last few updates.

But, I do question your use of 'the game idea' here - I'm not sure this game's mechanics allow for anything more than a porn hunt? I mean, once you map out the girls' schedules the game is pretty straight forward (if one actually reads the dialog to gather the hints), and the only 'game' elements boil down to a series of binary choices of whether to be soft/nice or more forward/bold/assertive in your actions.

A successful 'gaming element', call it a 'puzzle', is built around the player understanding properties and characteristics of their in-game equipment, environment and characters, gathered from previous in-game experience.

The pool party puzzle was the closest thing to a true 'game' mechanic, but I never felt I had enough information going into it to have a clear direction of which dialogue choices would lead me forward and, other than having to pass time until the event to re-spawned, there were no noticeable in-game consequences for 'wrong' choices. So, if you're presenting me a puzzle with no realistic chance of success based on in-game knowledge gathered in the lead up to it, is this a successful game element? (I will however complement the design of the functions and code that went into that event, fantastic)

If, as a player, I have to solve the puzzle to advance the story, and there are no in-game clues leading to success and no consequences for wrong choices other than having to re-try the event, then how on earth is preventing me from saving right before an event starts in any way helping preserve the in-game element, if the game element itself requires multiple do-overs and trial and error to be successful?

I'm optimistic you can find opportunities to insert a more intuitive and successful game element further on in Room for Rent. If not, I'm young enough to think I can make it to 2027.

Correct me if i`m wrong but i though the game follow this law pretty accurate.
Each room has it`s own purpose and some of em are linked to items that you have to shop before from the office.
So you pretty much need to find out the purpose of each room and how to use this room to seduce/corrupt the girls.

- Kitchen /to let em help or not help, give the girls some purport in cleaning, show appreciation.
- Living Room /like you said to make MC decisions how bolt is to bolt? for me the couch scene was pretty well and a glorious statement to advance in small steps rather then get everything to easy to fast.
-Dining Room /repeatable pattern to learn and listen about every girl routine, in game help pretty much.
To see the contrast between new girls outfits and the natural outfits of corrupted girls, fills me with glorious anticipation.

I could go on and on...

To search for the clothes and manipulate them at the washer, was kind of interactive if you ask me.
Same for the light at the pool, in combination with the office.
Small Puzzles like the glass at the shower room in combination with some Items that i have to shop first.
Then off course there are the shooting at the studio. The manipulation of the girls Homework at the Office.
And in general the link between time and room and the current girl.

There is a lot to figure out.

I said this here before but for me the beard situation was kinda the highlight. You sacrifice something from yourself, you undergo a change to change the girls perception of yourself to get so much more back in return...
That was kinda beautiful and risky into my Eyes. Only where is risk, there is an opportunity to grow.
That`s why i suggested more scarifies from the MC...

Anyways tltr...
The game looks pretty iconic to me.
Sometimes less is more in regarding of more in game mechanics.
Other games let you grind for money or let you travel endlessly over the mini map.
I kind of hate both mechanics. I rather travel miles into my head to figure out a new puzzle.
That`s my kind of fun.
You simply can`t please em all i ques.

But ya lets all give our 5 cent to make the best out of this already fantastic game!

Thanks for your inputs - I appreciate that.
When I started to make this game I had some ideas about building as you describe - simply collecting events, tasks, items etc and put them together to make a progress. I very soon realized that it was way to difficult for many players to solve the "puzzle" and I lost many potential supporters based upon that. Concerning release 10 - some players hate it - some players loved it. The idea was to let player ask and if he made the wrong question he was able to get a hint the day after at dinner. The order was quite easy if you "handled the girls with care" :)
From release 17 there will be some changes and some of your ideas, comments etc will occur. There will be new parameters to take care of...and more beautiful girls ....

Can anyone help me with this? Really don't want to start again as it took me hours and hours lol, I do have tonnes of saves but wouldn't know how far back I'd need to go to fix this if I xmcant trigger event 24.

Would it be possible to get an in-game of all of girls that have come into the game? It is getting hard to track how many have shown up.
