What happened?
TLDR, since this is already talked about plenty. They took a Karryn's prison style combat system, then transitioned to a deck builder battle system, both of which used a side view overworld map and in combat sex as well as defeat scenes. Then they changed it to basically a visual novel. Neither of these changes were popular, and they abandoned this game and another that they released one demo for after before claiming they're starting another game (with no evidence of it yet).

Surely making new separate games would have been smarter than transforming what an existing game is.

Well, the issue is that it's now a pattern of starting and abandoning games. Velminth was involved with some other projects before Saria Reclaimed, which all failed. They claimed it was the others involved with those projects that caused them to fail, however Vel has since failed to complete / continue 2 games so where they were the only one involved. So, the common denominator of failed projects is currently Vel for sure, and starting a new game when you've consistently failed to completer any project isn't such a good thing.

Dev is a complete dumbass.

1. Reworks his golden beloved game like 3 times against the fan's suggestions and wishes.
2. Turns out the rework was shit, just like his fans predicted.
3. Looses all motivation to continue and abandons the game.

This is what happens when developers think they know better than the consumer. All he literally had to do was continue on the winning path he started out on and he would have had a very succesful game that could have earned him a lot of cash.

Which rework? The one that turned this game into a Visual Novel, or the one that was wannabe Library of Ruina? IMO, the one that added cards and stuff was a massive upgrade from the piss-easy combat from before.

Welp, now we can officially say that this game is dead. Rest in peace Saria Reclaimed... You were such a beautiful gem in the F95zone community, only for your creator to break you...

AI is temporarily, but main focus is on fixing bugs and stabilizing the gameplay. I removed card gameplay and added old-style before 0.15 version turn-based combat, however it is still pretty boring and unbalanced, there is a lot of things to do. But AI is not my focus, we want to find an artist who could make not exactly the same, but at least close to Velminth artstyle CGs and cut-ins.
probably going to be expensive but the one I can imagine doing a good job is the artist of karryn prison or the one from Hasoyua games

No as I know, only at the start of the game small introduction.

If you are playing version 0.15.2, you will do combat using cards. They randomly appear, and you can't control them (the only option is to change your deck in the deck menu, select the cards that you want to see in the battle, and then fight with them). If you want to get lewd actions, I recommend you just do nothing until the enemy knocks you down. After your clothes are torn, restore your stamina and stand up and get the cut-ins depending on the enemy preference. Also, if you want to get specific cut-ins of the body part, for example, breasts, you should make sure when you enter the battle, the enemy preferences are set on the breasts (small icon above their sprites), if it's not, escape the battle, and repeat it, until enemy have the preference which you want. Better to grind the corruption of a body part naked; it will skip the part when you are fighting, and they will start automatically touching you, increasing Saria's arousal level.

If you are playing version 0.17, there are not a lot of options. The best cut-ins you can get when you are losing to the bosses and the striptease CG scene when you have enough corruption. This version is a downgrade of the previous one because the developer wanted to start making the game in Visual Novel, so he didn't add the old content to the VN version, so if you want the full experience of Saria, it's better to play 0.15.2; however, you can play 0.17, where a few new cut-ins and CGs were added.

Good luck with your playthrough.
I'm playing the 0.15 ver. and I'm kind of lost after reaching the cardinal heart. Idk where to go next.

When you reached Cardinal Heart, there is no content anymore. Probably you could miss the spaceship in the desert with dogs, which leads to two locations with spider enemies and insects enemies in another location.
Ah that's a little disappointing but oh well I guess I'll go and finish whatever i left behind.

Guys, why the game has 2 stars? The legacy version deserves minimum 3 stars.
It's simple, really. The legacy version, as good as it is, is not the most up to date version and not what Velminth was planning around in the future. No, what people are judging is the game that went through two different genre changes, going from a LISA-esque RPG, to a deck builder RPG, to the VNRPG version that we know and loathe today.

People (myself included if you want to read my review) are judging the game as a whole and not just what it used to be, that and Velminth's reactions to people's comments to and about changes (and whether he can actually deliver on a game, keep in mind they are 0/3 at this point)

It's rated 2-stars because the content, good as it is, is minimal and unfinished, the plot is non-existent, the mechanics are unpolished as fuck, the game's buggy as shit, and it's abandoned aka never going to be finished or fixed.

I get that you like the game and that you think it has 'le potential' or whatever, but it is heavily-flawed, flaws that could have been fixed if the dev wasn't an ape/grifter.

Of course people will rate both the game and the developer, specially in an abandoned game that has gone through several re-works, in what world is anyone going to just rate an abandoned v0.17 game more than 2 stars lmao.

Actually, Velminth started his project as a hobby, so he wanted just to deliver his personal projects to people without any seriousness.
Ah, yes, a patreon-funded hobby, mind you. But you conveniently left that out.
