Definitely. Never thought I'd say this one day, but I'm really disappointed. I know I'm not a patreon, but @Carlo S , @mirenzo and my anon friend (who is a pledger since nearly 2 months) don't deserve this.

I'm feeling really bad about all this. My friend told me that he probably will not receive the game now. And He wanted to even give back what I spent because we shared the patronage. I did this thinking not to harm Him when He receive the game. I could post without having any problems. All in vain. Sorry.

I feel the same way. Fortunately, there are devs like DarkCookie who still exist and are not money-incentive. He already made himself a name in the business and this, alone, is enough to attract thousands of fans in a blink of an eye if he ever wants to do another project in the future. In my language, (SEO), DarkCookie is called an e-influencer, and without knowing it, he's already at a very high level. Honesty and hard work always pays off.

I think any creator is free to chose how they want to distribute their products. On the other hand vnorth is not alone about layer up his game with pay walls, and such though.

Worst is cases where pay walls cover extra content and such. I can undeerstand get early access, your name mentioned in credits and maybe some input on the creation of the game in regards of votes in the way things are heading and such.

Sometimes I find something of interest and pledge a month or two. But if progress is slow on development, and I get the feeling you being milked. I just put it on hold and revisit some months later, or maybe.

Saw someone mentioned darkcookie in the thread. He got almost 4700 patreons vs vnorths not even 100. Then again darkcookie is reaching more out to audience with streams and such. Creating interest around his game. Maybe vnorth not in the same position to do such, idk. but rather than throw entitled tantrums over not get access as you want. Maybe would be better to try help the guy out. Maybe one day he reaching up there with darkcookie. He figure it out one day.

If you fan of grindy as fk russian games with bad machine transelation. Why not check out avengers SOB and Big Kuyash, he recently went Patreon as well. Or why not hobble over at tfgamessite and check out "Girl Life" that is a conversion of ETO being worked on continious and is free. There is options out there.

I am this someone and I stopped counting the amount of advices/strategies I gave him in order to make his game popular (because, it's my work and I know Google's hidden potential like my pocket). I'm far from being a vainglorious person. I don't care about titles, glory, thanks, etc... I did it because I like his game and I don't regret it (some staff members here know that I'm not lying and what I'm talking about). However, I'm dissapointed in the way Vnorth is acting now. He already reached $500. I don't want to argue with you, but can you bet that the next version will have a... let's say... 90% perfect english ? We'll see about that. Again, I'm not fighting nor trying to be disrespectul towards you or anyone. I'm just telling the truth.

What is the fuzz about? If the dev is acting like a dick, just unsub from patreon if you actually ever subscribed. There is plenty of stuff to fap about on the interwebs and mostly less grindy.

This "game" has so many flaws it wouldn't pass a PoC few year ago, not even now. But Patreon gives you the chance to milk people for money for extensive amount of time unless you seriously fk up. (that would be the answer for "ever wondered why is there so many russian devs on patreon?")

Few bulletpoint issue I have personally with this Game

• Grindy as fk - repeating actions X times without clear knowledge if it leads somewhere
• Grindy as hell - repeat action Z time without clear knowledge if it leads somewhere
• Hidden spots mechanic - Completely out of line from the concept of "Actions I can do are on "THIS" side of UI"
• Absence of comprehensible English translation - Seriously, there isnt anybody in whole Russia to translate that for 200$? I would bet there is
• Pong caricature - What is that? That is so much broken that a RNG based chance for Win/Loose would be better OR any other idea how to sway odds to your favor
• Anticheat - why the F would you waste time developing something like that for a SP "porn" game which you are eventually giving for free anyway?

That being said, there are really very few projects on Patreon that I would even consider supporting. Considering quality of the assets, gameplay, story (if any), project lead a communication with patreons and feedback. That pretty much leaves only Summertime Saga as fine, everything else fails in some of those categories (or I cant think out any other atm). Most of the stuff on F95 so far fails in pretty much ALL of those.

So here we have pretty much the answer for "Why are games from Patreon Free." Well because nobody would BUY 90% of those creations even in finished stated. You can consider them just a "payed Graphic/Coding practice" for somebody in good case. Or in worse case, just blatant cashgrab attempt since steam trading cards are getting shutdown and forcing Assetflips there will be much harder. But since Volvo wont policy Patreon, its up to users to identify roses from crap.

At the end of this rant I present my apology to any of those 10-15% devs on Patreon out there who do what their do in a good faith, with enough maturity and responsibility for their projects and are exceptions from so far observed behaviour.

Patreon keep all conversations they have to by law
So if you get banned because he chooses the pay up front which Patreon allow you can contact them and get your money back
If enough of his Patreons do he will get his Patreon pulled

VNorth has given patrons the chance to get their hands on what would normally be a $20 exclusive, in return they simply have to not share/leak the game. VNorth isn't doing shit except giving people a fucking sweet enticement. It's the patrons you should get mad at if anything for choosing not to share... But lets face it, who can blame them. Those Shantrel anims are gonna be fucking hot.
