What I don't get is why they can't be consistent
If their updates were not ready why post the teaser week

Any project timeline I worked on made sure to leave a buffer but really did not require one
You only need a basic understanding of CS fundamentals to create a VN. You can pretty much tell which devs have never worked in a professional capacity nor in a project-based environment by how often they fumble the bag.

I will never understand the numerous devs that announce dates they're not 100% certain they can hit. Its like these guys are still actively doing dev work up to the day they're supposed to push to prod. On the day your stuff is supposed to go live, it should be push button. If you're still doing dev work the day you push to prod there is something fundamentally wrong with your process and you shouldn't have announced a target you can't hit.

Applies to most VN devs tbh. I don't get the mentality. They have the luxury of choosing their release dates without managerial overhead and still fail.

I think a lot of would be creators fall into a trap thinking like this. It's why there's so many games abandoned at v0.01. No such thing as easy money. Well, except maybe furry art commissions.
True, but those come at the cost of your very sanity. No one can make those commissions for very long, as furries will pay for damn near any level of quality and will make depraved, horrifying, soul rending requests.

I Believe what happens a lot of the time is those creators enjoy drawing and they have a bare bones story they really want to draw, so they draw that very beginning story out and they really like it, its just translating your want to draw and do a story gets over shadowed by having to make it playable and enjoyable to the public. what I think happened here is hes been making this game for years now and its not like he doesn't enjoy drawing hes live streaming all the time. so I'm sure hes at that stage where the story (even though its not too crazy) has made it difficult to continue. that's my take on it at least, if I was into drawing I don't think id ever get tired of drawing my fav DC girls going at it, but to translate that into a game and having to make a story behind ever little drawing I make could, get a little tiring. Now I'm not giving him an excuse to not release updates. Im just trying to shed light on why I THINK hed fall behind.

He could simply hire people to do the game part for him.. They have been talking about starting a proper xxx studio but it keeps failing because they hired bad work.

I genuinely don't think this is true. The porn game market just isn't saturated yet. So much dogshit gets actual money constantly.

The real reason why so many games are abandoned at v0.01 is that porn game making is very niché and the kind of person who wants to do it or does it tends to be the kind of person who doesn't have much drive or ambition to begin with.

Which is why the ones who succeed in getting an audience and money just coast along doing the bare minimum of work.

They could also be using the porn games just to show ther skills in art, writing or programming. A NSFW work portifolio.

For example, Kiniko Nasu, of the Nasuverse. Creator of Tsukihime and the Fate series.
His visual novels at first were porn ones... but if you did play them you would see it was just two or three scenes per route, that could easily be removed with no loss, with A LOT of interesting story in-between and even comedy segments after game-overs.
Nowadays people are even surprised Fate/Stay Night had porn scenes (as I said, they would be easy to skip with no loss... which is what was done in the Realta Nua release for PS2). There is no scene in Fate/Extra games, and while there are mentions of more mature materials in Fate/Grand Order, a couple of events like the two Beast 3 ones being focused exactly on the aspects of love turned into sexuality, it is just a few crude words and innuendos, there are no visuals or actual sex scenes besides the characters wearing skimpy clothes.

So while some may be like you said, others are just using the porn games to be able to work in other areas later.

But the thing with Nasu is that he didn't want to put porn scenes originally and was more roped into making them to sell his visual novel. FSN didn't start off as a porn game from conception but was told later down the line that his idea would be more marketable if it had some h-scenes.

Whats up with this design anyway? First the chicks go through countless men and only THEN you get them for personal use? What kind of fetish is that?
