I'd suggest you try opening the exe file as administrator on your computer. Maybe that's the issue.

The second-last update we got (of the four we got in six months) contained a long fight (... and more) with the Shifter. We got a music animation, Sarge, mechs, horror-lite vibes, and quite a shake-up to the story.

I mean, if fighting one of the main Bad Guys, your would-be assassin, does not qualify as "a story update"... what does?

Id personally wait until the compressed version is ready. Patches would be nice, but I'm unsure if this is designed in a way that would make that easy.
