Optimizations
My machine can now pretty easily hit 2000 population (up from 300). Your results may vary, but it should be a substantial improvement.
Increased citizen and tourist population maximums to 500 to account for the optimization.
The downside of this patch is that some clothes don't look as nice in the station view, but that seemed like an acceptable sacrifice.
Reduced texture sizes in less-critical areas, which should further decrease memory use.
Menial Slaves:
Continuing my tradition of stealing from Free Cities, you can now buy menial slaves from the slave markets screen. There are three types: Workers, Bioreactors, and Fuckdolls. The economy for them drifts over time, so buy low and sell high for optimum results.
The economic report now contains "news events," some of which will have an effect on the menial slave economy.
The Pillar:
The Pillar is a new section of the station that's mostly devoted to managing menial slaves. To build on it, just zoom into the center of the station and click on the wrenches to see your options.
It contains four distinct rooms:
Storage increases the menial cap, and is good for speculators.
The Hydroponic Facility provides income over time, and doesn't require menials to function
The Factory puts your menial workers to work, and provides income when staffed.
The Bioreactor houses your bioreactors while they work, and provides passive income when filled.
Planet Upgrades:
Added terraforming upgrades to planets (they're expensive, but you can change them to any of the standard types).
Added genetic engineering upgrades that will alter the physical properties of tribute slaves
Added text vignettes describing the immediate effects of upgrades.
Separated planet upgrades into "Policy", "Slaves", "Terraforming", and "Warfare"
Other Changes:
Economic report now properly clears at the end of the month
You can now rotate the camera on the station view by holding RMB
Fixed animation offsets on the outdoor set of the porn studio and the slave hangers in the suite
Fixed a bug that caused annoying noises on the galaxy map
Fixed a bug that stopped the post-conquest screen from showing on the galaxy map.
Fixed a bug that made you jump to the nearest star instead of conquering under certain conditions.
Changed since design:
I've been doing a lot of thinking about the nature and history of the universe as part of my preparation for the "dating sim" patch, and I don't think the original concept of the pillar made sense. There is functionally no "free working class" to house there, so it's now just for menial slaves. The reason for this will be expanded on more in the future.
A side effect of that is that the gloryhole has been removed from the pillar, and will be replaced by a similar structure in the brothel. Apartments have been replaced with slave storage, and shopping has been cut entirely.
