Nope. I have no relation to Atemsiel at all.

Its all pure deduction. There are only so many things that can keep you from communicating entirely. Neither form of death, sudden or slow really fit the pattern.

The only thing I could come up with is legal issues. I. e. Prison.

Second place is lost interest. But even then complete radio silence after a post that said the intention to release next month isn't really fitting either imo.

Again, the bar is pretty high. There are only a limited amount of things that make you unable entirely to communicate over discord or whatsapp.

And with the pattern of reduced communication beforehand it limits the possibility even more.

There are hundreds to a thousand of reasons why a AVN Project might stop development. But only so many that make it impossible to communicate that.

Again. Its all tinfoil hat speculation. But its based on logical deduction.
My theory is he's Ukrainian or Russian and was conscripted into the armed forces.

In general, according to my version, if something really happened to him, someone else would have unsubscribed from his contacts, or at least the information somehow reached through someone, although of course God forbid. As it is, burnout or something related is still possible. By the way, he wrote about this in a New Year's entry, but then he said that he still had strength left and that he had only partially burned out. But he was mostly talking about the update, not the game itself, that it was just hard for him to make such updates.

but as former backer, he had over a year. he even took time off from working on it October of 24.

I think it would help with the burnout if he cut down on the massive number of possible paths for each girl in relation to their interaction with the MC and with other girls. It has to be pretty bad already, especially when making sure there isn't a combination that was missed, and we haven't even decided on the main path for half of the girls yet. I can't see it being done without more help. If it would mean the continued development of the game, I'd be ok with him spending time remaking the game to reduce the possibilities. Having it be abandoned altogether would be a worse alternative, especially if it is abandoned because he did what other devs have done and literally worked themselves to death.

I think most people would rather have a choice of routes, rather than a choice of plot events. The combination of these two led to a fractal division in outcomes that culminated mathematically at the exact moment that the update was delayed. Hundreds of possible conditions and events would be necessary to continue the plot even a little bit, which is almost certainly why he lost interest.

If I were picking this up again, I would create an in-world crisis that mirrors the circumstances of the creator, "something went out of control," and a partial reset in plot takes place. Some disaster happens at the school, which could be anything at all. Following that moment, the plot streamlines into a single path, and following that, every punishment, and every interaction involving more than one girl, has a small, finite number of permutations.

I think most people would agree having a route split of romantic vs submissive and removing the slave path is a reasonable middle ground considering the submissive path is basically just a lighter version of the slave path.

Well not me. That's a main draw of the game, especially if it fits the girl's personality. And remember that romance is breaking the rules of the school even more than the other two. I understand it's essential to have a route like that, because the purpose of the game is to be enjoyable, but by the world's logic, romance is the biggest compromise of his porn-logic duties.

cutting a whole path (especially if it means cutting the best one like you suggested) wouldnt be the solution, because people like me wouldnt play the game at all if their path was missing

Doesn't fit with the downturn in activity and then vanishing entirely.

Myself and chatgpt had a extensive discussion about this. There are only a limited amount of things that fit the pattern because there are only very few things that make you unable to communicate entirely. A conscription is not such a thing.
And Atem himself is 100% british. I heard him talk in his D&D streams he did with some other folks.
He sounds so British you could think its fake.

But at least there would be a game to play unlike now because now nobody is getting to play
right now it is/was the best game on this website for me. cutting the path i play would take away the reason i enjoy the game in the first place. no game or a game that isnt enjoyable idc, no difference honestly. and i am not the only one that would stop playing (or worse for a dev: paying for the game) if their path wasnt in the game.

Better to cut some paths and thus complexity to make the game actually doable to create and lose some players than lose all players because the game can't continue.

Slave route isn't even that popular. Any players dropping it would be easily offset by new players joining if the game gets consistent updates.

I actually wargamed this a while back and got the 21 paths down to 8 or so. Sure there were some tough choices involved but if radical cuts are needed to save this bitch I say go for it. Because at the end of the day, a lot of the paths with the LIs make no sense and I think trying to square that circle is probably what drove young Atemsiel to the brink of madness and despair.

So the bottom line is that if Stormside is going to survive then compromise is in order, which means potentially losing your dream path for an individual LI.
