Quest rewards are tied to MC CHA. At CHA 5 you get +30% to all rewards, and it makes breaking in your slaves a lot easier (even without a social MC). That matters. More than you may realize. You're screwing yourself over the long run for stats you don't really need. Your MC should not be a jack-of-all-trades. Both a fighter and a mage. Focus on one or the other, not both. Then you'll have the points for CHA. Trust me on this, when I first started playing the sequel I did what you're doing. It doesn't work as well as focusing on one thing and doing that superbly. The most effective easy-to-play combo is a fighter MC and a mage first hire (as you get a free staff that is very good). Arguably the most effective combo of all is a social MC + mage 1st hire, but that requires knowing quite a few tricks of how the game works that are not obvious at first glance.

For a fighter a dragonkin is your best bet. For mages the best are fairies (if you don't mind squishy characters) or dark elves.
That initial quest disadvantage goes away after I boost my stats though, and the combat focus lets me ramp up faster than a social focus. Here's the status of my base at day 10 where I started with cha and sex at 1.

Here's MC's current stats:

Here's my first slave also with stats mostly maxed.

Daisy has spent most of her time upgrading the base so most of her xp came from those scrolls of knowledge:

These stat boosts are relatively easy. Magic wood is the main hurdle initially. Boosting anything above good starts getting expensive unless you do it with a class upgrade that gives a free point so I tend to save those to use AFTER I get my base stats to good or great first. So I'm still 1 point behind you on charisma at this point but I've mostly caught up there and I suspect I'm ahead for most other things. Your way works fine as well, but I think my way is a faster start. Also I can boost my cha to great before day 14 if I build an upgraded tailor shop which puts my quest rewards for the second set of quests at the same level as if I had started with maxed out cha.

Edit: Just noticed that I can actually boost both Charm and Sex to great with class upgrades and then still have 1 final upgrade to excellent via classes that are locked in the guild shops. Didn't notice the Geisha and Succubus/Incubus upgrades earlier.

Yes and no.
- Dragonkins just have a column skill at PHY 80 (!)
- Orcs have a better skill at PHY 50 (Druid move, PHY version)
- Seraphs have a lich/assasin 1-shooter at PHY 75 with +15 speed (!) saving you 1-2 speed classes
- Dwarves... are dead with Battlesmith now locked behind smith

To note: in the exotic slave market the races with the very best potential Growth are Dragonkins(max 6), then Seraphs/Dark elves/Demons.
The only races that can spawn with a natural 120 cap are Dragonkins(PHY) and Bunnies(SEX, obviously).
..and goblins are the dumbest and more useless thing in Strive. I protest, this is racist. At least let them breed 10 times faster than other races so you can unlock Ruler early :coffee:.

I want to be able to max out physical, wits, and magic early on.
Very unefficient.
The most efficient is to save the factor+ classes for LAST. It saves you 200G in training to have Dancer raise CHA from 1 to 2, but a King's ransom worth from 5 to 6.
Always plan Ranger, Dominator, etc. in advance to get it when your lucky gal/guy reaches factor 5 (max 100).

AWolfe is right, in that specialists are much more efficient and desirable.
For your master, high CHA lets you unlock things faster. High SEX lets you train your crew faster and makes your Succubus happy (best argument toward SEX>CHA :p). Witty masters won't have much wriggle room with both WIT and MAG being of the essence.

Here's the list of cap-raising jobs for reference:

I think you misunderstand what I'm doing with my build. I start with terrible cha and sex, good magic, and everything else is great. Day 1 I spend 200 gold and 20 wood to boost cha and sex to poor. Day 2 I spend 500 gold and 10 iron wood to boost magic to good and then use Caster to boost it to great. Day 3 I use Ranger to boost physical to excellent for free.

Sometime before day 7 I spend another 1400 gold, 20 magic wood, and 20 iron wood to boost both cha and sex to good to improve quest rewards for the week 2 quests, and then use Incubus and Geisha to boost them to great for free. So at this point everything is either great or excellent and all the rest of my stats except growth can be bumped to excellent for free with class skills, although some of those are locked behind guild shops until week 3 or 4.

I do the same with my first slave so that starting in week 2 I can breed with her and get kids that are guaranteed to have great to excellent as their worst stats in everything (I think it might sometimes vary up or down slightly but those are the base stats).

I don't bother boosting stats of my other slaves at first (except Daisy). I just sell off my worst slaves and replace with whatever random ones I find in the bandit fort until I get a good one and then only upgrade the best ones. Their only purpose initially is to upgrade my base and mine magic wood and thick leather anyway.

For anyone who downloaded 3.2c before 6PM EST, please download it again. There has been a "stealth" hotfix for several game-breaking bugs that were introduced in the initial update. The "stealth" aspect is that the re-release has the same version number. You need files with 6:02pm timestamps, not those with the earlier 3-something-pm timestamps.

I have been trying to edit max interactions and the amount of time you get for sex and stuff but it's not working, I mean I did it with the first but even though I edit it here it's not showing in game after a restart... is it not reading the new values?

Make sure you are in the src/core folder and not the files folder for files like 'variables'. There seems to be some extra files or possibly used as backup that the game doesn't read but are otherwise identical.

I didn't exactly number crunch but....

Is it just me, or is Breeder just not worth the cost in getting it?

I think it's primary purpose is so that species can interbreed. Giving breedsow to a Dragonkin(who have higher stats) for example will allow the children to inherit the stats from her and allow whatever species to be the father as well. Otherwise, only other dragonkin could breed with her.

Another stealth hotfix posted. Fixes some seriously broken aspects of the character creation screen (bugs that I reported this morning).

Please re-download 3.2c if you plan to create characters anytime soon and don't want to have to manually edit a .sav file to fix appearance stuff that didn't have your changes saved.
