Subverse - promising h-game on kickstarter

When the game comes out, will it be complete with all the chapters or will only some chapters come out and do you have to wait for the others to come out? I ask this because this game is not very complex xD

The game will be chapter based, something on the lines of 10 chapters total, if memory serves it will be 3 chapters at launch, the amount of chapters we get with each update and the time to release said updates are as of now undisclosed by Studio Fow.
IMO the updates will take a least 3 months and each update will contain only one chapter, so considering initial release of the game in March, by my guess, the game should be fully released sometime around December 2022/January 2023.

It seems pretty obvious to me that these devs are not, or were not, familiar with the muh harem crowd. Like they used to just make random alien sex videos. They had an idea about a lighthearted silly space adventure with sex positive vibes.

They probably don't consider any of this NTR or cuck shit. Their (and likely the MC's) though process regarding the scene of the science officer banging some abomination is "Lol, she is fucking that alien." It's not, "Oh fuckkk... my love interest is betraying me... fuck.." They framed it in a way where you have a deadpool looking joker of a captain adventuring with a bunch of independent(?) women who don't mind getting some of that alien dong. Is there a romance in there somewhere? Maybe. I don't know. Will you be able to avoid alien shit for romance options? Maybe. Probably. Is it reasonable to expect them to not have any alien shit as part of the plot? No.

Honestly, it's not their fault if people unfamiliar with their studio's bread and butter get butt hurt over that exact content.

I don't mind alien beastiality shit, but it's not something that I like either. Aliens and tentacles are more often a turn off for me. I also don't mind NTR or harems. What I wasn't entirely sold on is the silly and non serious nature of the whole thing (that's the impression I got at least). I would have liked a real epic tale akin to Mass Effect or KOTOR or something. Or a space chad dominating chicks. Or even an actual NTR game where girls can get corrupted and stolen. A silly romp through space vibes just never did it for me, but I am still excited for the gameplay and seeing what an actual porn studio from the west can do.

Actually, people just want anyone to make an AO game that has sex and is NOT a VN, or use uncanny valley models. (Clearly the VN genre is saturated)

But you have a point. FOW just 'won the loterry'. With their prortfolio, they shouldn't attract that many supporters. Not saying they are bad quality-wise (they are the best), but their products are a 'niche in the niche': Few people like bestiality, and few people like sex games

What we argued here was that most of the people on Steam are very vanilla, and they do not know what they are getting into. That's it.

FOW is very niche, but you have to understand that literally no sane normal human being knows about animation porn studios and what they like doing. I bet that most of the steam purchasers will be just dudes who are like "oh shit, big tits.".

From what I've read, it's a niche free-for-all sex game (nukige). I'm definitely interested in playing it due to the niche interspecies content. What I don't agree with (if it's happening) is the devs not being clear-cut on what the content will be about.

No, it's not the literal definition of NTR (but likely fits the loose one many folks seem to use casually in place of anything that sort of fits cuckoldry in any form), it sounds like the player "may" simply get cucked in the game. (you yourself made a statement I'm going to quote momentarily that basically summarizes the concern a number of folks have with this)

it gives the impression that there will be some canonized incidents of the girls doing this stuff regardless of the player's desire to have it in the game or not; so there will potentially be incidents in the game or just conversations that indicate the stuff is happening behind the scenes and the captain is effectively "being cucked", which some folks are fine with, and some won't be fine with. As you said, they just need to be very clear about this stuff - while it's not NTR as defined, it's still an area that a lot of vanilla folks who just want to romance beautiful waifus and / or have a private harem are potentially going to feel a bit misled by, especially since some players get attached to their waifus and don't want to share them, lol.

Like I mentioned in an earlier post above (https://f95zone.to/threads/subverse-promising-h-game-on-kickstarter.27806/post-5135065), there's just conflicting marketing material out there - they talk even in some of their official dev diary entries about full fledged romances, etc. which, at least to me, seems to go against having the girls canonically running around fucking monsters if the player doesn't want them to.

So guess we'll just have to wait and see. I'm hoping a copy will hit the high seas so we can check it out and make an informed decision before pulling the trigger with our wallets; this will avoid people potentially being very disappointed in the content and then ranting on the Steam messageboards. If I could confirm there is zero canonized monster stuff in the game I'd buy the game as soon as possible, but not gonna do that until I know for sure and if it has this type of content then I'll know to stay away.

From what I've read, it's a niche free-for-all sex game (nukige).

Some haters wanted it to be a serious story-driven romance. When they noticed that the game treats sex in a casual way, they got jealous about their possible-future-virtual-partner and lost their minds. It's just a loud minority, don't worry. The game isn't NTR, it's probably exactly what you described.

I think the game part is going to be more interesting then the porn part from the looks of the trailer. To me the women all look very undetailed and plastic looking. I will wait to see what the full thing brings but just like the teaser animation from a while back this didn't impress me much. At this point if you are trying to create a huge porn game like this with so much backing and people behind it I expect porn animations and models that look as good as NYL, Rigid3d, Jackerman, and other great animators and model creators. The Girl Models look mediocre at best.

Rigid3d makes his own models. Sure they are characters that already exist but he makes the whole thing. All I am saying is if they cant make animation at a top quality then why bother. Jackerman works alone other than VAs and is able to put out quality animations every month, longer animations semi regularly, and he uses DAZ which is kinda trash for animation. On top of that he is a full time Student so I don't buy the excuse that they don't have the time when they have a team of people and a lot of money in backing. If we are saying its because of Unreal engine then also no, Wild Life and Carnal Instincts both look better in terms of quality.

TLDR the porn part looks pretty mediocre for 1.6M Euros.

I really liked the trailer. The music, voice acting and animations are on a whole new level for the genre. I just hope the game will be as polished as the trailer.

I agree it looks mediocre in the trailer, however, 1) you need to consider the artstyle. The artstyle itself is kind of plastic which I am perfectly fine with. 2) This trailer was in no way the finished product, If you look at their portfolio on thier website and go on thier blog and see the development posts of those videos, we see similar trends where the teasers to their videos was in my opinion inferior in quality compared to the final product. Finally 3) as for animators who are purely pumping out content, I would not say their animation is 100% pefect. Even with Jackerman there is some jank in his animations. His game tenacular was not of the same animation quality as his "normal" monthly content. So in conclusion, While the porn part may look mediocre, I highly doubt that is the final product. The past has proven that.

My hope is that part of my disapointment is because it's on Youtube and thus cannot show much in terms of sex scenes, and also because in term of art direction (not technical aspect), it doesn't look as good as all the artwork and previews I've seen before.
But maybe part of it is also because it didn't show the characters and backgrounds I liked before. Another thing is that we are all here fantasizing about "OMG a 1,6M€ porn game !!!" which more or less consciously makes us compare it with non porn games we see all the time, and most of them are AAA games costing hundreds of millions. 1,6M is just the cost of little to medium indie game imho. If you factor all the money Summertime Saga got since the beginning, it must be pretty close to this. And SS doesn't look like Red Dead Redemption 2.
I'd like to see some hardcore and longer, different version of the trailer to get a better idea of the content. But for now, only the voices really sound like a big budget porn game. Not impressed by art and gameplay yet. And again, talking about art direction, not number of polygons.

Don't be stupid guys, it's an h-game, if it has bare bones gameplay it would already be better than everything illusion comes up with and 99.9% of the rest of the industry.
Don't come at this expecting it's going to be AAA level. Hell, many games on patreon easily surpass the amount of money they got on kickstarter in a couple of years, and you know the state they're in.

Studiofow still makes animations like it's 2013 and SFM just came out. But it's 2021 and animators like Fpsblyck exist. The quality has fare shot past through anything Studiofow could possibly achieve.
