I made a list of 35 games and written their development times. I'd put more games on this list but I'm incredibly bored. Here's how I made this list:
1. I've checked my games folder and googled their name +" development time"
2. I've checked Steam's indie section(top sellers) and googled their name +" development time"
3. About half of them didn't have any info about their development time. The ones I found are listed here.
Crucial details:
1. Games listed here are made with various budget limits. Some had high budget, some had 0 budget so devs worked for free.
2. They are made by various dev team sizes, from tiny indie dev teams as small as 1 or 2 people to AAA devs.
3. Some are developer's first game so they had to create everything, they didn't had the luxury of "reusing assets".
But why did I make this list? Here's why:
Money doesn’t equal speed. Anyone that expected a 30+ hour intended game to be done in a couple years just plain has no idea how game dev works.
Why are you comparing the dev team who made God of War with StudioFOW? Am I missing something here? lol. That just seems like a crap comparison, and more angry people from the F95 community yelling into the void again.
So many terrible takes about game dev, like the guy comparing one of the best triple A studios to this game. LOL.
So, now feel free to argue about:
- muh employee count
OR
- muh budget
OR
- muh experience
OR
- muh graphics
OR
- muh file size
OR
- muh reused assets
OR
- muh cherrypicked games(all in development hell) are made in 1000 years, not in a few years!!!
I'm done here, feel free to defend studiofow with your lives, maybe they will put your names as "defenders" in the game's credits screen, that is if they ever manage to release the full game before you die of old age.
