How do I know which is which based on the torrent file?
Are the chapters separated or were they compiled into one?

The current build of Subverse has all the available content bundled into the game (nothing is separate) so no need to worry about installing individual chapters, etc.

Okay, thanks. That "Parts 1,2,3..." got me confused so better to be safe.
Still, 17Gb for a pre-alpha? Unreal really live up to expectations.

Np - ya I think the different parts was just to split up the files for folks who needed to download it in pieces due to limited bandwidth, etc. I personally always recommend a torrent over a file hoster though if the torrent has seeders. More reliable and no real concerns with dropped connections.

there are 2 games i hold in high regard because they used the porn element for story segregation in a good sense while keeping a degree of aceptable quality for the scenes

thug hero party | dark hero party depending of the translation you pick, its a heavy NTR game where you see umos, the main character, losing his village, her friends and girlfriend, and living trought a hell because somebody stronger that him decided to do so. During your game, the game give you hope just to crush it after. I don't like NTR yet i like this because how they used the scenes to justify what came after

pronant symphony main theme is brainwashing, you brainwashed 4 adventures to submit your will and head to the pandemonium to kill istaroth, somebody you have a bone to pick up. What i found neat is the game never suggest you to use the brainwashing for bad or good things. Julius the main character has a past but is not releaved early on to not biase the player to side in either side of the spectrum

being a good guy prevents you to unlock 99% of the scenes but given the past of julius, by granting the chance he aspired to be something better of what he is, or at least his narrative of the story, being the bad guy raping people at your wish is what get the scenes given the past of julius, he is spoiling himself in pleasures before he dies for good

turn based combat with a twist to mind: the field effect, you may have killed the same guy 100 times in row but if you manipulate the field effect to the enemy advantage due mistake or ignorance, expect to be killed (probably). You not only die if your hp hits 0, so does if your mp hits 0.

and for having static CG, censored, and no voice, it also felt like a game for me to invest 15 hours on it

shield yourself all your want in the cinematic experience, in the voice acting or the diferent elements in your game, is not the whole part is just a piece of the whole product that determinate if the game is good or bad. I cannot personally judge subverse due my computer not metting the requirements to run it. I just learned about studioFOW when this was posted here!. But looking the comments here, the videos, the scenes... i expected more for what they advertised in their kickstarter, i believe this is a common mistake in developers when they go more ambitious of what they can manage. I really hope subverse becomes a proper porn game for everbody to enjoy

>bruh those are turn based combat game

seek on internet violated heroine, despite the old ass rpg maker engine, is a action rpg. Pixel sprite ero scenes
Okay, now for the next fun part. How much did those games have available at 0.1

We wouldn't know, because Japanese developers don't release their games at 0.1. They release demo and then release a full product in a few months. Japanese developers don't make promises they release games when they're ready and don't push fundraisers. That point is actually against Subverse in this case.

So then you can't even compare the two. Even more of a point actually. Shoulda done more homework.

Just wondering, but what's an "high budget" japanese porn game ?

I know we don't have any information about that, but which game come to your mind first when I say "high budget japanese porn game" ?

Yeah you still can't compare a full game to an early access one though.
Not a full game but there are/were EA games that had very little at first, but what was there was fun and engaging that kept players engaged. It's not about putting as much as you can in EA, but its about taking concepts and ideas and doing something unique and different with them to help your product stand out.

Frankly none really come to mind. most games I remember are just VN's. Animation-wise there's good ones like Umemaro, Ebimaru-do, or Atelier KOB, but their releases are very long periods of waiting inbetween, as they're very small teams (or in umemaro's case a single person).

So many of their games though need English patching, and workarounds to get them to run in other countries, which is usually a block for most people.

Yeah I don't think Subverse had any problems standing out xD. As for keeping players engaged, yeah they're working on that. There's been plenty of requests for either replaying missions or bringing on the endless mode from the beta testing. Just have to wait and see.

There's an alternative perspective on this though, why didn't we have access to some gameplay and system prototypes before the fundraiser? Backers didn't have any idea of what they were getting two years ago.

looking at this as a pervert on the sideline: Subverse looks like it's going to be the Cyberpunk 2077 of porn games...

And not in a good way...

Hype killed by shoddy implementation...

I hope it gets better than it gets worse...

shit, it even went semi-mainstream for a time...

It was listed in the KS what gameplay they had in mind. And the beta gameplay was uploaded by a few youtubers as well, as it wasn't under any NDA's.

There's something missing from the Kickstarter page, I just looked, there's no mention of the Pandora system there.

Well, I mean the majority of the budget went to hiring professional voice actors. What was left over was only enough to cover cheap animation which explains the loops.
It's not "Nancy Cartwright" and "Hank Azaria" cost level we deal with here you know.

Some quote I found doing a quick google.... how accurate it is, idk..

" Pro studios might offer between $200-300 per hour for a 1-2 hour minimum session, and it's not unreasonable to expect to be paid between $500-$700 as a main character in a fully voiced, full length visual novel. At the indie scale, per line or even per word is the most common break down. "

Yeah, I know the gimmick it's a high qauilty porn game but agimmick only gets you so far. Standing out meant doing something unique and different to whatever genre lol.
