People are talking about the UV and normalmaps buddy, which have pretty strong indicators they started life as honey select assets. Doesn't matter how heavily modified they became or what warps were done before export.
Now will Illusion piss off the coomers by getting Subverse delisted? Unlikely, even dead to rights. Is it yet more compounding proof "The mass effect of porngames" has been bush league from the start?

The modelwork was done before they had any money. Studio FOW, as animators, have always used "borrowed" assets and before Subverse it was fine. They weren't technically selling anything when they were using ninjaripped faces from videogames slapped on random 3D bodies. Crowdfunding of "fair use" parody content is in that happy little grey area of indirect monetization where things like commercial licensing don't come up much.
So FOW back in preproduction making the amateur mistake of not actually having rights to the models turned into their OC donut steel characters?
On par with the rest of their design and development decisions.
We've already gone into "Wow thats fucking low rent" and "If they were going to use a base model, why not... just buy one." many, many pages back. The answer is in the question, it's fucking low rent. If this was the 3 man team $65,000 ramen fueled game it was pitched as, people would still notice but not care much. As a 2 million dollarydoo game, these come off as problems.
It's a redflag people noticed from the start that "these look a lot like honey select, huh" during the backer phase, turned from an eye cock to strong sus since the .0000000000001 of the game released and people unpacked the models. It's just another small thing added to the dogpile for why there is no future here. And paling in comparison to the "next chapter release sometime, just trust us bro we definitely aren't out of money also no refunds we technically met the goals" release schedule for the rest of the game. These basic utility updates haven't moved the needle on the cratered official playercount, much less pushed new copies, and hell as of now you'd be hard pressed to even pirate the damn thing. No one is seeding a subpar 20gig game that can be reduced to a couple minutes of .webm loops.
