Backpedaling and damage controlling? Where? It was a stretch goal. They were paid to put it in the game...and before they even thought of Subverse at least half of their animations were bestiality. It's not like the backers thought they'd be playing as the alien dog.

I would assume that the main reason the initial chapters took so long is due to the team needing to create their own tools and workflow. They aren't a game studio, and the probably used the initial time getting used to it. Still though, it doesn't change the fact that they launched an incomplete game, but personally, the quality of what we have is enough to give me faith that they'll finish the game. If they planned on running with the money, they would've done that already, or they would've released shovelware.

Yes the Recruitment scenes occur during the story, and take quite a bit of dialogue (besides DEMI just offering to please you as the initial scene) to get to.

As said, I haven't played the game, but the term "recruitment scene" sounds like one scene per character? I mean, I'm just not into this "buy sex scenes for currency stuff" in general. Nothing one can do...
Even in low budget stuff like Koikatsu you get some dumb dialogue after a sex scene. "hehe you raped me". It's not much but it is something.
