It's always fun to come back to this thread every few months and see what's up...or isn't up.

Really regret backing this game and I genuinely hope they go back to making videos after this.

I mean...its not gone, its just not in this project. Just lurk til the game's done and they're back to movie making

We must be talking about two very different Studio FOWs if you can even make a joke about comedy in Studio FOW's game. They did an interview once, I believe it was with lewd gamers, and like one of the first questions is why their videos were so dark and always involved blackmail, rape, demons capturing girls, etc.

Anyone who's been a fan of their work should be genuinely confused that they decided to go with a light and fluffy deadpool knockoff with all the girls being pansexual sluts that are all too happy to be boned by anything sapient or otherwise at any and all times.

I was actually kind of expecting a darker Mass Effect kind of VN not... whatever the heck this is supposed to be. I agree with Risquerverie though, the captain makes me want to just quick close the game every time he opens his nonexistent mouth.

As far as videos go it probably isn't happening because of the Patreon ban making monetization difficult. That's probably why they made the game in the first place, can't use Patreon so the next best thing is Kickstarter and digital distribution like Steam.

Finances are probably why the game is so directionless too. Everything about it screams "We want to appeal to the widest audience possible". Hence the early PR being a mess of trying to advertise it as both a vanilla harem game and a monster fucking game and the weird middle ground they attempted to have in the final product.

I know there are other subscription services but they're much smaller than Patreon. FOW probably crunched some numbers and decided Kickstarter was the way to go.

There's also sunk cost to consider now. They invested so heavily in Subverse that they're probably sticking to it for the foreseeable future, and if they start doing videos again they'll probably be Subverse related to funnel people back into buying the game or dlc.

THIS!!!! I'm so fucking surprised they went the appeal to EVERYONE audience. It's understandable yes...but like its Studio FOW people KNOW who they are. Like We know your history release what you are best at.

I don't think polyamarous relationships is 'a weird middle ground', but I digress. No given creator wants to make the same thing over and over. That's why every film isn't just Kunoichi. Are most of them non-con? Sure, they're mainly inspired by Taimanin Asagi. But that doesn't mean every other project they do will be in that category.

They gave us commissioned doujinshi as part of the backing, most of which were non-con, non-canon works.

Also I don't think they'd solely do Subverse themed works after this, they're already spending 4+ years in this universe, they're definitely gonna be looking for fresh air after this.

no, its in fullscreen, not tabbed. i am using "SmartSteamLoader_x64 - Shortcut" to launch, and when i open the videos in the folder via potplayer they work fine. they just don't work in game.

Studio fow has lost their edge, i used to like them for actual rape, monster and bestiality content

Kickstarter/Steam would not allow such content + FOW was quite open about the fact that there won't be rape content + I think there is big group of people, who would have ignore the project, if it would "embrace" such content.

An optimal choice would've been a division between FOWers working on Subverse and FOWers working on new videos. That way they could've delivered the game and satiated their hardcore fans at the same times.

Technically that is the plan after the game is done, to have a film and game division. Will have to see what the future holds though.

The idea is while they make the game they also gain experience with the engine. Avoiding the turmoils that come with learning a new engine. See Sumthindfrnt’s thread to see how

It's not really poly though, it's cordoned off in an optional gallery with no story context so they can call it non-canon. Don't want to see your "waifu" fucking that big ass prawn looking mofo? Don't worry dude it's not canon. That's what I mean by weird middle ground.
