Hey!

I'm usually a lurker in the forums but I decided to break out of my shell since I couldn't understand why either.
Anyway, what I did was just troubleshoot compatibility and ran it in compatibility for Windows 8 and that made it work.

once you beat the final boss all the scenes are viewable from your backyard

You dont use the patch. You just run the EXE.
If you are having problems is probably because your antivirus deleted the Mai@kfdll file

If anyone else has this issue I found making sure it was whitelisted by your anti-virus and running as administrator when starting the .exe fixed the freezing issue.
