What? You think Ocean should also be clairvoyant to see what the future version of the license would look like? How can you possibly plan such a change ahead otherwise?

A yearly music license for a single piece of music costs a few hundred, a permanent license several thousands of €. He had no money to pay for the permanent licenses of all the music he used in the game and obviously had no supernatural premonitions about the future version of the license that makes it impossible to use the same music in a game with lewds any more.

All i am hearing is excuses, i mean Ocean could have hired a psychic. I saw Millie Bobby Brown hired a psychic recently to tell her if she is a feminist, so why cant Ocean hire one to tell him if his music loicense gonna expire?

I mean Ocean is British anyway, they have to use LOICENSE for everything anyway, he should have known, skill issue.

100% this Hell I love and appreciate AVN games that don't throw sex at you right away. Since I'm one of the rare 1% of users on here that wants the build up to it cause it makes the scenes feel that more special when it finally happens. Also games that build up to for me tend to feel like they actually have a story, good characters and the relationships feel more romantic at least to me.

he's definitely German. who else starts looking into music licensing years before his game gets released and then changes the game once he can't use music? if he wasn't German, he could just add music, try to get licenses right before release, then throw some free placeholder music over unlicensed parts and have a "RiverWorkshop" account post "Better Music" mod but that would break too many rules

Season 2 will be a separate game, so it having explicit content won't void the music licensing in season 1. Ocean will have to get different music licensing in season 2 which allows explicit stuff.

I need to time my questions better because I think my post got completely buried under the debate that was going on in here. Thanks for answering my question about what would happen to the music in season 2 (even though your comment wasn't directed at me).

I'm still sad the jacuzzi scene is getting removed, but it makes sense. I hope he keeps his promise about season 2 Nami making up for it. The sooner it happens in season 2 the better.

I'm hoping Nami still rubs off on Nika's lap and the necessary "adjustment" of the scene just means that he won't get any stiffies before season 2

There is what we call discussion - several of us talking about what we like/dislike about SG/any AVN on this site - and being a $ supporter is not required.

We actually talk about Why we feel the way we do, and I believe that most of the best discussions use facts where they are available.

This discussion is generally encouraged - maybe we learn from someone else's perspective or perhaps we just end up with 'agree to disagree' - both are fine as outcomes.

For those who just appear and start to drop crap on a creation (like you) - no explanation - no attempt to say Why their opinion applies to Ocean/SG or to a different VN - that is not expressing a difference of opinion; it is acting like you can take a dump on something because you have the right to and God forbid someone should call you out and disagree with you.

Well, even as a fan of games, I still have a lot of criticism about this game. But as someone who does not use English, I found it really frustrating to write a long paragraph about things I criticize about this game, and knowing you, I will have to write a lot of long replies to backup myself.

And for the Subnero situation: what happened to "Ocean's Vision," about which you always talk? He literally decided to change his vision of his game and remove the already-established scene because of the music license issue and the Steam release. and I think Subnero has a right to ask about it.

I criticize the game quite heavily after every single update. Nothing's wrong with criticism. No one was arguing because of criticism. The main reason I replied to that user was because of the fact that he was upset that SG wasn't the kind of game he wanted it to be. While there will be a lot of lewds, it's not(and never will be) the main thing that SG's about. No amount of complaining is going to change that fact. That's like me going to WVM's thread and making an angry comment about the fact that it features next to no actual relationship-building. Instead of getting upset and posting my outrage at the fact that it doesn't fit my particular tastes... do you know what I did? I left... like a normal person. Obviously, the game didn't have what I was looking for... so why would I waste my time complaining about it and getting mad at the dev for making their game that way? - hopefully you see how dumb this whole thing isღ

Anyway, that was literally my only real problem with his posts. That, and he was a bit rude, which - Subnero, just so that you know for the future... I can get quite rude tooღ

By reading the latest posts in this thread, I found out Nami's jacuzzi scene is gonna be removed, what a shame but understandable glad I saved the version of the game that has all the now removed cinematics and scenes somewhere.

Gotta suck for so many devs to pick the perfect song, not knowing that months or maybe years later, the author is gonna get anal about their work being in a VN and revoke the license (which I don't understand.... cause as far as my ignorance lets me know, if you paid for the license or used Public Domain Dedication, the author can't just suddenly change their minds and void the license unless they made a very specific clause in the contract).

Here's hoping not only Ocean, but DPC and Drifty as well, find music that belongs to more flexible creators.

Yea since hearing the news I've been wondering what the damage will be. If he only needs to cut out the shot to the ass grinding on the dick camera angle, and keep everything else the same, I can live with that. The scene itself is already a pleasure, the dialogue, the choices, the intentions, what it means for their progress, everything leading up to it, during and after it was already wonderful. It just keeps getting more disappointing this keeps happening and things need to be altered, in some cases the damage was fairly minimal, in others more damage, the original magic that originally captured my attention was lost. But if it's only the camera angle being directly on the ass grinding on the dick that they're worried about, then maybe he can redo the grinding animation so it's less explicit and add it in at a later time, that doesn't include a shot or camera angle to the ass grinding on the dick, because I still think the jacuzzi scene deserves an animation, even if it's less explicit. Just hope the rest of that scene is kept the same.

I really liked that scene and I don't like it being changed, but I do understand why it had to happen. It was either this adjustment or 40% of the music being removed from the game.
However, the word "adjust" makes me hopeful that the adjustment is minor and mostly just a change in dialog.

Also, a minor correction here about the change in licensing terms. I believe it was the company that owns the copyright on this music and organized that online licencing service with monthly payments and I don't know how long licensing periods for many musicians, was mostly at fault here, not necessarily the author(s) of the music. That service (or several of them) changed their licensing terms, pretty much all at once, banning all chances of using their music for adult content. Possibly because of Paypal or credit card companies demanded it or something (just my guess, not something I know for sure, but it would fit the pattern of what has been happening with Patreon and other services).

He didn't have thousands of euros for each piece of music to get permanent licenses for them and he used a yearly licensing service that cost a few hundreds per piece a year instead (just like several other game devs did). One yearly license ended and the new one had a clause about the adult content being forbidden as a surprise.
