Dude, he doesn't upload the game on patreon either. To my knowledge the only things that are uploaded are the update logs and renders, the game downloads themselves are provided through links to file hosting websites.

imagine that you put a game on steam that is reviewed and approved. a few weeks later you will add the content that was missing. they have no guarantee that the newly added content does not violate their terms

it is allowed to modify game even after approval but if you make such an update I don't believe that there is no longer a review. that wouldn't make any sense

Yes you can discuss with people who have a different opinion but if its obvious that it leads to nothing and the other person just keeps repeating himself in different words (ocean bad milker / i will save the patreons! / i could render this faster and better with ai) and so on, it gets kinda obvious that these guys are either trolling or really just complete morons.

Nobody has time to discuss with people lacking a brain all day long, i could have a more educating discussion with my dog and he isnt the smartest either.

Some people just really enjoy to repeat their dumb arguments over and over and over and arent ashamed to showcase their stupidity.

The ignore list helps that people who cant stand each other and are unable to have a good discussion together to avioid each other which keeps this forum a bit cleaner/calmer.

i see devs that have probaly far less powerful computers and have far less great looking renders that are making 10k or more a month in income. now how are they making that much a month having far less and then we have other devs that are making little to nothing a month with far greater to work with. i think it comes down to story and characters not renders and FX scenes.

And the fact that he invests a significant part of his income in the game (new hardware, new music, new 3d assets, e.t.c) gives me nothing but approval.

And no, I don't agree that it's all about the plot and characters, it's about the composition of all aspects of the game. It’s for a reason that AVN contains the letter "V", otherwise why even bother with this format of a novel. A good story with ugly renders may attract readers since people read books anyway, but it doesn't stand a chance against a good story combined with great renders.

It all kinda depends imo and in the end its just the devs decision.

Would i be satisfied too if the quality would be a bit worse (like for example BaDIK) in exchange for more progression? Yes im sure i would have, maybe i would have prefered it, maybe not, i really cant tell.

A school hallway render with atmospheric lighting and lots of npcs like the new reworked renders looks amazing but i would have been satisfied with the not-reworked stuff too if it would have meant a faster development.

BUT this is Oceans style and his most exceptional ability, creating really amazing renders and atmosphere and its his vision for the avn.

I think a dev with a vision and being passionate to make it come true is way more productive in the long run compared to someone who always does what may be would the best buisness decision or compromises his own work/idea to appeal or to appease to some groups.

He wants to create something different and unique in his own style and im all for it and im convinced it leads to a better outcome and the dev stays motivated and has fun working which produces a better product in the end.

to be fair i like way more AVNs with shitty renders and great story and characters than i like awesome renders with average to below average story and characters. a great looking game will not be around for long without story and characters doesn't matter if it looks great or not.
