Ya sad to see Ocean leave. I PM'd him a few days back but think he deleted his account before reading it - I had encouraged him to stick around and just make very aggressive use of the ignore button for the people who are clearly just hating on him and the game. I'm on his Discord but I hate Discord's format so I don't engage much there, just read Ocean's posts, etc.

As someone else noted, hopefully the "modder of unknown origin" still uploads the incest patch when updates release.

Wise decision in my opinion. Way too much noise to signal on this forum. Pretty much a toxic cesspool for most devs. Even if the VN is a hit, you have to wade through the BS posts of people complaining about why their LI (or random background character) is not featured more, why there is no 'X' or too much 'X'. Why no incest, why no NTR? Or the inverse of each. And those are just the fans. Even worse are the trolls. People legitimately wanting to see and be part of the success can still access him through multiple channels. It will be a bummer not having his opinion and input in this thread. But the junk is not worth it most of the time.

well he is on discord as well ,and if this website had bad or toxic comments wait until you see how some discord users type , as someone that used to talk in discord the community there is usually one of the worse ones i know . Of course not everyone might be toxic there , but the servers i was in always had some toxic people , one of the best decisions of my life was leaving discord

Are you seriously questioning why a dev would leave this thread? This forum? If I had one piece of advice that I could give devs, it would be to avoid this forum at all costs. There is nothing to be gained here that cannot be gained in a place with more appropriate critics.

It is possible for us to discuss something and disagree on many points. But I only follow certain people in this thread. I ignore the rest. Why would a dev, who is busy creating a game and dealing with everything else that goes with it, worry about maintaining a presence here? Who to listen to, who to ignore.

You can join any of his formal contact points free of charge. If you are concerned about not being heard, go there.

My recommendation when seeing the attacks, complaints (like those about the rework - which ignore Why Ocean is doing the rework) and entitled troll behavior Ocean was seeing is to pick a few trustworthy supporters to review F95 in his stead.

Let them summarize anything of value found and Ocean continues with the Important work - continuing to create SG and WIAB, without the negativity found on F95.

Do we want a dev spending his valuable time refuting trolls on this thread or do we want the dev to spend that time giving us better updates faster?

Ocean's time and focus have value.

I think this move is a no brainer.

How better this game would be (Don't get me wrong it's already one of the best) if it had a decent voice over. I wonder if Ocean's ever gonna give it a try but since he is kind of a perfectionist it would take him years to find a suiting one for each important character

Sorry, voice over is annoying as hell, and kills the immersion completely - for me at last. It's for me like reading a book. You imagine something in your head, like a voice and how it's described, then comes the voice over and smash all with a sledgehammer. To be fair, no voices or voice positions were described, but it would still rub me the wrong way.

I don't think it's going to happen, it's almost certain that it won't happen, but seeing how Ocean is with his work, so meticulous and descriptive, I'm very curious to know what kind of voices he would put on the characters.

VNs almost always suffer with voice overs. Most developers don't have the budget to hire good VAs, so you just end up with people reading off a script. It's an idea that sounds good in a vacuum but doesn't get applied well in actual work.

A great Voice Over is a thing of beauty But... Very hard to achieve since each of us 'hears' the MC and different LI's in different ways.

I think that AI will be able to do this for an AVN 'built' to support AI voice over but for it to be well-received, I think each user would have to create a custom voice 'palette' - picking the actual voices that represent all of the key people in the AVN and then deciding to allow the AI to provide the matches for some secondary and most/all tertiary characters.

I wonder how powerful the processor(s) would need to be to integrate the voice palette chosen into the AVN in real time as well as applying it like a mod where you would have the regular AVN and the AVN with voice over support.

Tech rabbit holes - just a bit of musing on my part.

SG already has a really decent soundtrack. Voiceovers would kill it.

It is extremely hard to do voices right, and extremely expensive.

Please don't ask for even more stuff like this or we will wait until Scientist invent Magic to be able to finish the novel.


Music on the other hand is an absolute marvel to give each scene the right tone. But again, needs to be the right music.

Some of the reasons devs distance themselves from places like F95 Is related to mental health.

Your lack of agreement or understanding is not required for a dev to do what they need to do as part of maintaining creativity and productivity.

I posted earlier that I felt Ocean's time was better spent developing SG and WIAB versus addressing trolls and others who have Nothing positive to say about his creations. He can have several trusted confidants perform the review, discard the BS that some sling here and just give Ocean the feedback that is Real and relevant, saving his time and energy for what is more important - creating something Many of us enjoy.

His time is better spent creating his stories and if that means certain entitled F95 users no longer get to waste Ocean's time - so much the better.

BTW - you are certainly a paragon of providing an even-handed assessment of Summers Gone.

You have had Nothing positive to say about SG since it was released and your activity here, on this thread, only picked up once there was a new release.

I'm sure every dev out there feels honored to become your 'toilet of the month' until you find another dev arrogant enough to release a new rev of their creation and you have to 'honor' them with your attention.
