The smartest thing he has said I will no longer give estimates let's hope he sticks to that unless he is 100% sure about a date
For real because I've was expecting it at the end of January and got so disappointed. Better to be happily surprised.

Or he should just give Scotty estimates and 2x-4x the time he thinks it will take him.

I liked that he gave those, he was wrong but not half a year wrong, and it gave us some clue when are we gonna the updates.
from his point of viev it was a mistake, I get it because some ppl lack patience a lot, so the only way to deal with them is by not giving any dates.
And I still liked it bc I usually make thouse estimations myself bc I'm keeping track of all his updates, I have them written down, I listen whats his plan, to make thouse asmuptions. So him giving estimations was nice.
People are just hyper impatient these days, look at big aaa-game releases like cyberpunk or something like that, people get so angry about delays and apparently prefer a shity unfinished product in time over a finished product which got the time, sweat and tears to become something truely good.
At the same time they cry about the half-assed ea games which are a result of these overly strict timelines.
Similar with Ocean and DPC, these guys put their everything into their avns, trying to create something truely unique and putting their hearts into it and a big crowd is just whining about it and just want/expect the same shitty fast-food like 95% of all other avns.
Really annoys me.

Wow, people really just do not get the fun of this whole thing, do they? It's like watching a Cathedral getting built, or a Monk illuminating a manuscript. Yeah you'll be dead for it's finished, but you get to witness something magnificent come into being.So??
I started reading the series A Song Of Ice And Fire when the first book came out in 1996.
I'm looking forward to the next book in the series - which has taken years longer to reach fans than we hoped for - 28 years after the release of the first book.
It is part of the price we pay for supporting someone with a grand vision.
Ocean/Summers Gone is the most ambitious dev/AVN I am supporting with my $ and my time.
I don't expect everyone to agree with me/my view of Ocean/SG any more than I expect everyone to be willing to wait for the next book in the series that served as the basis for GOT.
Feel free to respond as above every 6 months for the next ten years, if you feel this is the best use of your time.
I'll be here, on this thread, sharing what I enjoy about Summers Gone, and I believe my time will be well spent...

Though in this case I'm afraid it's nothing to do with the rest of the fandom. It's just that I'm a Medievalist, and these are my all-purpose reference points. (I thought about comparing it to Ikon crafting, but I didn't know if people here would be familiar enough with Eastern Orthodoxy's traditions of holy art.)
Side note - I'd be happy to fetch you the holy water, but... you do realize the implication of that is you're requesting to be baptized into the faith, right?

Haha you're right. Don't take my comments too seriously though I'm just fucking around most of the time.
Though in all seriousness, it kinda bothers me when people idolize or put Ocean's work in a pedestal. This game isn't perfect. Far from it. Even if you love it and every update fills you with excitement, it's important to hold the dev's feet to the fire. Praise the good but don't leave out the bad. You aren't doing Ocean, yourself, the game and all other players any favors otherwise. And for years this thread was a circlejerk of blind praise. Nowadays its more even but a lot of valid criticism is still dismissed as hate by many.
I'm also eager for the update to come out so I can finally leave a damn review for season 1.

It's not about idolization. He's just doing something new and delightful in a visual medium we'd all kind of given up on hoping for either from. (I was trying to describe the SG sensibility/aesthetic to someone the other day, and came up with "It's like if Wagner wrote Dawson's Creek". I'm pretty proud of that one, but let me know what you think.)
It's something beautiful and weird when it's so, so hard to find anything that's either. I guess people just want to marvel at this lovely thing they stumbled across. Maybe your best bet would be a more direct line of communication, or at least a forum he pops in on more often.
But I'll make you a deal - if you can tell me the name of a perfect game, I'll consider bothering to look for something in SG to constructively criticize. (Note - must be a VN. MoO2 is obviously the perfection of 4x strategy, but that gets us nowhere.) Aside from anything else, I genuinely do not understand this medium well enough to form a basis of literary judgement. If I had a like, some generally acknowledged pinnacle of the form I'd at least have somewhere to start.
Oh, but don't post it here or they'll delete this whole little interaction. These accounts have some kind of dm function right? Feel free to do that.
(Post-Script -none of the above is a critique of other adult VNs, my intended target was the state of contemporary mainstream visual/narrative arts in general. The last thing from those that took me off guard in the same way was... wait, are we allowed to mention, like, normal books? Nevermind, I'll just play it safe and let this trail off...)
