Ocean decided to do around a 7000 render update and I believe he said all of S1 was around 12000. So he way over did and and there is the smallest amount of optimisum after this he goes back to around 2000 ish render updates shortening the time. But we'll see.
The smallest amount of optimism is that Ocean said he'd go back to smaller sized updates. I'm not sure how that will work with all the branching for the different paths though. If you have 150 unique renders per path with 13 LI's currently, that's already 1950 renders per update, without the story based renders. Or maybe the path specific events will be smaller? I'm really not sure how he'll go back. My guess is that each update will have to have a limited amount of LI specific content to keep the size that low. Currently Sonya, Nadia, Elsa and Marla haven't had much contact with Nika, I don't expect any events more than bumping into them for a coffee or awkward glances in a class or something. But once everyone's paths are open, 1950 is a small number, because then there are all the lewdable characters...

It really depends on how much branching there is, as right now there isn't really a huge amount - although the paths are there, you can see almost all the content in one playthrough with minimal differences. So in a lot of ways, S2 Ch1 sets a bit of the scope for how Ocean will deal with branching.

Definitely, Some scenarios could include, LI getting ignored for a longer period of time, some LIs maybe getting dropped, like for me at least some of the names Bob mentioned it's hard to see a path for some of these LI not to just be side LIs. It's technically still early for how the amount of time that has actually passed but, like said, some these interactions have been mere greetings and conversations that hold little weight and its hard to envision a path to get where some of the LI already are. Or the size will have to be 4-5 thousand renders or more to somehow keep everyone involved. Im grasping at straws, and this is just me, but maybe half chapters just to keep a somewhat "steady" release timeline. But its all speculation and its just a waiting game like always.

We've already had half chapters - the ~2200 renders from ch4.5 to ch5 beta for example, before the next ~2000 renders from ch5 beta to full. Ocean dropped the half numbers and now just calls each release a chapter. There's no industry standard that says a chapter is a particular length or has a cliffhanger, or anything. It just is what it is.

The steady release timeline is only achieved by setting realistic targets, so in my mind if he can deliver ~2000 render updates twice a year, we're in a much better place, Ocean's in a much better place. Given he's done ~5200 since the last release (I'm going to guess almost all the work he'd done on season 2 prior to releasing season 1 he's already redone), this isn't impossible. Whether he does it, we'll see. Once we're over this massive release, lets see if he can focus on building a healthier workflow.

As to the LI's well, he didn't intend for a shut in recluse to suddenly date everyone in the first three days of college. It'll be easy to get the rest up to speed, it's simply supplying the opportunities. Zara and Sasha have had the tiniest of interactions, but they both grabbed people's attention in an instant. All Ocean has to do is deliver content and each LI has a rabid fan base who'll want OCean to focus on only that path.... :coffee::sneaky:

Ok, I finally get around to getting back to this game and it has all of these patches and such. SO..... Which patch or patches should I download for the most ORIGINAL version of the game before the dev sold his soul to Steam and Patreon? Yes I hate when a dev this gifted butchers his work to satisfy the dollar gods. Yes I also know that games of this depth and quality aren't cheap, but I had the original "Pre Steam" version and was able to see how badly it got butchered. SOOO......

Which mods not including the walkthrough mod should I download?
There are multiple "different" mods that appear to be done for different content. What order should they be installed in to prevent errors or nonsensical dialog?

Any help is appreciated.

DEV - I still love your work!! Don't hate me! I just hate what you have had to do to it just to get Steam and/or Patreon to accept it.

I use the uncut mod, because some good shit was taken out to make the steam release more PG or whatever, plus some other stuff that Ocean didn't like I suppose. That has an incest patch built in as well. Plus I suppose you can use scrappy's WT mod, I haven't tried it as I know what most of the choices do by now. I have no need for anything else really.

TBF, I'm having a little doubt that Ocean will ever be able to achieve a steady release timeline or schedule.
To me he seems to be an "artist type", a multi-talented one. The artist types I happen to know and have worked with or helped, tend to be somewhat undisciplined, somewhat irrational, kind of airheads. The more talented, the more they seem to float around with their heads in the clouds (I don't mean the chemical or medicated kind) and the less they seem to be connected to reality. Unless you are able to cope with it and not stress yourself over their quirks and forgive them their lack of discipline up to a level, you won't be able to work with them.

I could be wrong about this, but reading Oceans dev logs makes me think the opposite. I hope that he won't go as far as cutting off his own ear, but I think you know what I'm talking about.

And I can live with that. He does what he's good at the way he prefers and is able to do it. He is clearly not slacking off, as some angry guys love to accuse every developer they know.
Trying to make him work in a way that seems more rational and efficient to people who may have more experience working on schedule and with clear deadlines, might have an opposite effect (The ear, remember?! :HideThePain:), so there's no point complaining about it or stressing over it the way some do.

The "original" version of the game you seek before the dev sold out would be ch3.5 but although you can still find a link to that update in this thread, that version of the game has been discontinued. The content is finite and no longer supported although I would still heavily encourage you to try it out since it was my favorite version of this game. Sadly no mod restores the game to what it was before Steam.

That said, the next best thing would be what I described in the following post. Hope it helps!

Ask 10 people and you will likely have 10 different replies. It really depends on what your personal preference is. Some will try to scare you off of using mods with all sorts of doom scenarios like "breaking your saves". My advice is to disregard them. In 6 years of F95 and AVN's I've never broken a single fucking save by using mods. If your saves are broken it's either the dev's fault for messing up the update or lack of mod update, in which case you just need to wait a few days at worst. Or use the save fixer that the mods usually provide.

All that said, my reccomendation in this case for the better experience would be:
- Infamous Patch (should be self-explanatory)
- Walkthrough Mod (or just use URM it's always better)
- Uncut Mod (restores deleted scenes that were cut for..."reasons")
- Music Restoration Mod (restores amazing music that was once used in the game but dev lost licenses to continue using)

Choice is yours. Try them out and see what works for you. Have fun!

2 weeks I've spent reading through this thread. Even skipping over as much of the "when's the next update? why is there no sex? what's the dev doing?" posts as possible. I bet you could eliminate over 500 pages if those posts just disappeared.

Love the characters and story. Now it's my turn to join the countless others who wait for updates. Don't mind me. Just pulling up a seat over here in this small corner. Right there. Thanks.

Oh and go Team Bella(Nami and Zara are tied for 2nd).

As if one RNasc4444 wasn't enough...
Wouldn't life be oh so boring if we all just thought alike and liked the exact same things? My hot take just spices things up a bit
I know my dislike of Zara and Nia is unpopular in this thread but I don't think it's unjustified or unreasonable.

Hey....only I (and the lovely, sweet, adorable, beautiful Goddess that is Zara) can throw shade at @RNasc4444 :WeSmart:
Who's going to throw shit at RNasc? I'm with you! Lezgo!
I'll just borrow this here for a second

I'm extremely patient and I prefer to know the environment I jump into and do my research first. I know who is who, what girls everyone supports, and blocked those who are here for no more than trolling. ;)
You shouldn't play the game at all. A week after the update is released you should just read our posts here. That will be more fun than the update itself.

So I was a tad bored after doing several runs on another game and decided to
finish my last save on yet another SG run. It's been sometime since I played it.
At the end I was watching the credits when I saw what Ocean wrote at the end.
Still makes me laugh and sad at the same time "Season 2 chapter 1 late 2024
on steam"
