I do still hope that tweaks to existing characters will continue along with future updates. Just like the Aunt's story has continued to evolve in the "mom" patch and "sister" patch. There are a lot of little orphan story tails that could be tied up or extended as we go along (like all the stuff in your attic, or the costumes in the mall shop, etc)

Is it the coders of the art? People keep mentioning the "Poser" so not sure if that's art related, becasue it doesn't seem related to code.

If DC is making a lot of art quickly, and the new coder is better than before, maybe it's time to get another or upgrade the in between person wo helps link the art with the code, or gets the art ready for the coding.

Competent coders are able to lay in the framework, the bulk of the gameplay, scripting, and code without the final assets ready. Simply use placeholders, and the once the real art is done, swap out a file or variable, and tweak as needed. That's literally all there is to it. If the coders are in fact waiting for assets to be done before coding in the corresponding parts of the game, then they're either a) incompetent or b) milking patrons for money. Both possibilities are not good.

You don't need to be "high level" in order to know how to use placeholders. This is basic game/software development know how. With the amount of money DC is pulling in, even half decent coders at a grand or two a month should have more than enough time and know how to be ahead of the curve when it comes to coding things for this game. Ren'Py is also a VN engine to start with, so it's not like they're starting from scratch on their own.

This is me speaking as both a software developer and game developer myself.

I know I could easily handle it but there is no way I would have the time for it.
