Abandoned. My third wife's mother-in-law told me in bed that she heard it from a former schoolmate while she was at the hairdresser while we were testing the comfort of the mattress.

I was here the last time two years ago. Just one question.

CAN YOU IMPREGNATE DEBBIE YET?
I actually saw pregnant art of her being worked on stream so it is happening. Not sure if it will be implemented with the upcoming update.

I'll do you a couple better:

- Doom (1993) was developed by a core team of seven guys in 13 months. That included developing an engine from scratch and basically inventing the FPS genre in the process.
- Stardew Valley was developed by one guy in 4 years. That includes all art, music, sound effects, story, and dialogue, not to mention he built the whole thing using the XNA framework rather than an existing engine.

The long development at this point has nothing to do with game complexity and everything to do with the fact that the dev pipeline is fucked. This is not a game made by a team of dedicated professionals evenly splitting the Patreon proceeds, it's two or three full-timers (DC, the coder, and maybe the head writer) and a pack of part-time posers/QA people in different time zones who work when they can find the time. It's massively inefficient and DC doesn't seem bothered by it, so it's unlikely to get better any time soon.
Hadn't seen these posts. Wow. :ROFLMAO:
So
- The goals and goal obligations are gone.
- Donation count is gone. You can't tell how much money it's bringing in before you chip in.
- All update posts are paywalled. Stops hate spam but also critics. Even then patrons are still upset.
- Patrons don't know anything about their pipeline and how fucked it is.
- He streams less and when he does he just does touch-ups for 2 hours
- He has people that sub to his stream on top of patreon
- Gets mad at people suggesting how to fix things.
- Doesn't want to hire more people to help in the area that needs help
- Hasn't hired the people listed on the patreon at full-time and hasn't mentioned it to his patrons or potential patrons.
- He's making something close to double the average US income. Not every year. Every month. Mostly for himself.
- All happening at the same time that a proper update has been MIA for 2 years and no content has been added in the last ~1.5 year.

Kinda.....

Not 2 years. v0.20.8 came out on 25-Mar-2021 so in less than a month it'll be 3 years.

To add to your good breakdown, the highest proof of malicious intent is how DC [didn't] handle his abject failure.

He promised the Tech Update will last "3 to 4 months" in Dec-2020. That's what patreons voted on, as if they are respected and their word matters. When you promise 3-4 months and you get past 12 and you see yourself in limbo, with no release date in sight, it's more than enough for anyone who operates in good faith to fundamentally rethink what they're doing. At that point an honest leader would just say "we're 3-4 times past the promised deadline with no end in sight, things are out of control, we need a new plan".

Then, if the engine rewrite wasn't already completed, the lead dev should've been replaced with one that's actually competent. This rewrite (without piling on all the actual content) is very mainstream work for literally any half-competent Python dev. Can be done in 2 months, easily. It's not a money issue, not rocket science, just very mainstream dev work.

The hard part is reworking and adding back all the content on top of the new engine. This is hard because it's a large volume of work but it has an upside: it can easily be split across multiple releases, just like stories have been delivered in consecutive releases up to 0.20.8 over the years. So an honest leader would say "we'll release the game in 6 months with just the first 3 stories reworked and then 6-12 months later will come the rest of the stories".

Was there any regrouping and honest self awareness at any point past that 3-4 months deadline? FUCK NO! Even now, a staggering 35 months later the project is dead in the water with no credible status reports, no deadline, no direction.

This is not about an inability. At this point the failure is so monumental that to assume it's about an inability is misleading. DC is quite simply a scammer. A person with no work ethic that sees the SS project as an amoral meta-game whose objective is to to extract maximum $ from his paying supporters. THAT is his only mission.

Q: It's 2021-2022 and patreon vibe goes down?
A: Push out some side-updates with a few minutes worth of content.

Q: It's 2023 and income actually drops?
A: Start simulating activity to give the illusion the lights are on and we're WORKING. Barf out word salads as status updates. Make screenshots and call them wallpapers. Just look busy.

Q: It's Oct-2023 and $/patreon goes down as they reduce their monthly contribution to see some impact?
A: Hide your monthly income to minimize network effects from everyone seeing their discontent reflected in how monthly income drops.

DarkCookie is a scammer and Summertime Saga is by far the biggest scam in adult games and quite likely the biggest scam that happened on Patreon so far.

i saw this that said this game making about +130k per month and it's number one in all adult games in term of supporters !!
it's really surprising!! why are people paying for this ? it has been inactive for more than a year there are hundreds of devs that are working day and night for content and updates which are really underappreciated but still working for little money !
and here this is a game that started project in 2016 after about 8 years still not finished no update for more than a year and still has 29k patreon supporter!! and it doesn't even have that much content considering the time of first release!
what are these people thinking ?
