The default names are Ashley (ex-stepmother); Trisha (ex-stepaunt); Maddie (paternal half-sister); Michelle (ex-half-cousin). I have no idea if you can rename them, but there's no "Sabrina" in this game unless you manually entered it or otherwise modified it. Are you referring to Michelle? Obviously, giving a character your own name is fine, but in a forum like this, it's probably easiest to refer to them by their default names, since I will have no idea who "Ingrid" or "Abigail" or whoever-the-hell is going to be if you made something up yourself.

Yeah, I named mine Madison and Sabrina (like I said, because of the "witch" shirt she was wearing), but in the forum, I am careful to say Sis and Shortcake, the convention here and elsewhere.

Since I was presented with a blank space for the names for Sister and Cousin/Shortcake, I didn't realize there were default names. The fact that people usually refer to them as Sis and Shortcake, implies many others had no idea there were default names.

Weird. I swear there used to be default names (I haven't played the beginning since April 2020), but I guess I could be thinking of a different game. So I apparently was wrong, but you get the point, though. Except for our little discussion we've been having, I haven't ever looked for or referred to the sister or cousin by name here anyway. Sorry for the confusion.

Well, I've sung my praises about this game in the past, but unfortunately we have to deal with some shadow this time.

Renders are still great, we finally get TWO stars (YAY!) and have already completed the first task on the way to the third. I feel Ushigo won't make it to Week 12 as he already asked us to look after Yuki when he passes on. And apparently Sunshine Bay moved from Croatia (Dubrovnik) to Norway (Bergen) in one update - that would at least explain the snow. I've encountered two sex scenes in the update (well, three, but the first was fingering only), one nice, one hot. In general, the first half mostly dealt with the No Boob Squad (Connie, Carissa / SC, Yuki) with the other ladies coming in later.

Let's get to the inevitable:

* Save games did not work, I had to load an older save which initially was not a problem. Thanks to Hyperserver for the hint of saving earlier. This was the first time I remember saying this, and I've hung around the forums of all your dev team's three games. However, could you pass along to the Powers That Be to include a little "This is the penultimate scene of the update. Please go back one line and save here in order to avoid errors next update" warning during the game?

* It became a problem once the save did not respect my choices. It was my main save (I have other catchup saves for Yuki and Trisha) for the Sara / Half-Sister, Carissa / SC, Ivy and Ashley path. Imagine my surprise when it threw me onto the Yuki path (MC said that he wanted to grab a lunch before his next appointment, then there was a loading pause and suddenly I found myself in the harbour with Yuki) and mentioned things like the water plane that I've never encountered in this save. It then proceeded to load the "Some hours later" screen three times.

* Being on the Ashley path I had, as opposed to it being mentioned in the WT, no opportunity of choice to drive home to the hotel earlier. Not that I really wanted, but still...

* That dig site in the mountains looked weird, more like the sea with roadworks barriers. Colour me confused.

- And finally, porn logic:

* Soooo, there is this big festival in town, the biggest of the season that brings in a lot of potential customers, that will definitely benefit the hotel, so maybe we should prepare for it. It will start on Saturday, so what happens? We learn about the festival on Monday (you couldn't have called earlier, Ivy?) and start meeting relevant people (Ashley and Trisha) "some days later" on Wednesday. And are supposed to renovate an entire wing of rooms - well, one by one as much as we can do, but MC promised the whole wing to the twin - by Saturday with the qualified person in hospital and the half-qualified person busy with the health spa section.

* Speaking of which, we have ONE person running that area, who is supposed to simultaneously massage three clients and give Yoga lessons. At one point MC contemplates hiring more staff (no shit, Sherlock, what was your first clue?) while being worried that Jazmin may not like having to work with others (REALLY? )...

* So you are late with your half of the mortgage, putting your "We were ON A BREAK!" girlfriend into the dumps, so this should be priority number 1, but what does our hero do? Buying a surfboard instead. On loan. Yeah, this will sit really well with Nicole (who we probably have to save from an assassination attempt in the future) and rightly so.

Still, looking forward to how thing will develop with the girls and Nicole being in town now. One thing I know is though, as much as the game will allow me, Svetlana will be watched closely and held on a very tight leash.

Yeah, I think nearly everyone found that problem this time. On my save path that should not include Yuki, I dug into the code and made sure to answer every question wrong (dogs, pool, city, Leo or Ares, No, and No) so it would kill her path. I then just saved right after leaving her and heading for dinner so it (hopefully) permanently locks her out on that set of saves. Ofc, this shouldn't happen in the first place.

It then proceeded to load the "Some hours later" screen three times.

This is actually just coded multiple times. At the end of one file (04_week4_00.rpy) and at the beginning of the next (04_week4_01.rpy). The code literally calls for the same image, text, and fade in / fade out multiple times, as if it were copy-pasted. Just an oversight, but obviously it's weird and shouldn't happen.

* Being on the Ashley path I had, as opposed to it being mentioned in the WT, no opportunity of choice to drive home to the hotel earlier. Not that I really wanted, but still...

Not sure on this one. Were you also on the sister path? I think you might only be given the option if you're both on Ashley's path and you're on the sister's path. I could be wrong, but if I'm remembering my playthroughs correctly, I had the option when I was on both paths, but the MC either just left (if I was only on the sister's path) or he automatically went with Ashley (if only on her path). Unless I'm misremembering, I believe that's how it went for me.

One thing I know is though, as much as the game will allow me, Svetlana will be watched closely and held on a very tight leash.

This pic gave me major Psycho thriller vibes. The only thing missing was the knife. Also, are those stairs in the background? Are they leading into a wall? And if so, are you supposed to climb onto them from the side?

I requested that the tag be added. IDK if it will be dedicated, but if you visit Trisha at her office and are on her path, she ties the MC up, slaps his dick hard, yells at the MC, and demands that he not cum until she's says he may. It's not strong femdom yet, but it's there. She suggests afterward that the MC might get to dom her at some point later, so I assume it won't be dedicated or all that strong. But I could always be wrong, since this just started.

Can I just tell you that its extremely annoying to see a tag that denotes content for just a single scene? I know that's not your fault, and I know that tags are considered "warnings" here, but in general one would think tags should actually denote relevant content. If a one-of-scene is too much for people to cope with and sends them into a frenzy, I have no idea how the hell people deal with day to day life. I get it. That scene makes it qualify for the tag. That doesn't make it sit well with me when you get excited for specific content only to find out its a minor one time scene or something that you spent time getting to. I don't think its asking for much for things to be relevant, not just to assuage people's fears of every little thing that might happen.

This isn't me getting angry/taking it out on you/trying to blame/fight/start an argument. I'm venting because, again, this is the most obnoxious thing. My time is actually important to me, spending a couple hours of my free time on a red herring is vexing.

- Being made to choose between different scenes and character points is annoying to be honest. I don't see the reason, there's not enough variation to warrant multiple playthroughs, not that I would bother anyway and I don't know what impact the points have. Just let me see all the scenes, it'd make the updates longer and more rewarding for the player.

Having played Melody, I am fairly certain it's going to come down to a small number of choices. Even if early on you can select multiple women, a time will come when you have to let go of one or more if you want to hold on to others. I'm not sure of MrDots' reasons, but I can think of one: having to choose means you have to think about the choices; there are stakes involved. I don't see it as pushing for multiple playthroughs (just as with Melody, though I didn't get the "canon" ending, and left out other options, I am very happy with my Melody + Sofia ending and feel no need to try for a different one.)

I understand that this is not your thing. But it is something I and others enjoy. There are VNs available where you can have everyone. I enjoy those also, but for different reasons. In this one and others like it, for me, taking away the choices will make it less rewarding.

It is possible to be in Ashley and Trisha paths. The conditions to each do not exclude the other.

Oh, those choices we have to make in the name of points. Case in point: During shopping, I liked the first bikini for Carissa / SC for design and colour reasons. Would have done with the third, more skimpy choice even though she really has nothing much to fill it. But of course, the dev wants me to choose the f'ugly second bikini, because +5, otherwise +2 or -5. *sigh*

I'm not sure why people are opposed to Sis's actions in this update. When you consider she was already forced away from him once before, and took it pretty hard, her wanting to be cautious that she doesn't get too involved and then have to watch him leave at the end of the summer is a pretty good reason to apply the breaks for a while. The MC still talks about going back to his city after the summer so she doesn't just want a summer fling as she does love him. She is justified in her decision at the time. I'm glad there was a time skip though for her to realize it was mostly a kneejerk reaction and she wants more to happen. With Nicole now in Sunshine Bay, perhaps the "return to Darkham City" plan will go away.

Yet I've got mine at something like -20 and still messing around with the cow. Don't mind the options when I can choose to avoid that scene but I stopped playing part way thru this update because of this.

I can't help but feel this game suffers a bit from the push to make every end of update a little bit of a cliff hanger. The first scene with Connie was bizarre. Who sees a pair of underwear under someones bed and goes "....is she not wearing underwear?" Like, you don't know her life, she could be a messy bitch.

And the whole "fuck this scene probably looks bad for me". How exactly? Unless you walk out that bathroom like Winnie the Pooh then why would people automatically jump to something bad? Like by that argument the Mc should think something is going on with Connie and the sister cause she's in the room when he walked in. A very contrived scenario. Now if her underwear was in HIS room, sure that's iffy but it seems a rather peculiar way of writing in drama

i used the fourth autosave, it worked. the latest save didnt worked for me either... dont know why, but a little older save has done the trick for me. But someone wrote to use the mod, and it worked after... didnt try this out

As for the update itself... hm not much to tell about it. A little quality-time with the girls of interest, nothing more. I noticed some bugs/errors here and there... but nothing serious.

For myself i would prefer that the inner monologues were not so many... its about the most that is going on. A little annoying, minly because the monologues are stating just the obvious. But i played all mrdots games and getting used to it... i DMD or Melody its the same, monologues with nothing to tell all over the place.

And i wish there are more choices to make. I dont think its a good system to build the interactions of the girls with MC only on the "increasing" or "decreasing" realtionship points... i mean, if i do a nice thing for someone, that doesnt mean i directly want to get in her panties. But thats how it works in this game... i have been nice to trisha and now i have to eat her out, i dont get the choice here (and i dindt want to get sexual with her). That means for me i have to play through the game another time and try to "decrease" the realtionship with the girls i dont want to be with cause i am not able to say "no" in a choice if its getting sexual, no i have to despite the girl from the beginning, thats odd. If youre a nice guy its impossible to stay faithful to a girl in this game, that bothers me really. And it was made so much better in melody or DMD where you can be a nice guy to the girls without getting sexual cause at the point where its getting hot you get a choice... in sunshine love most of the time you dont get this choices...

maybe you can overwork this. I saw the "heart button" in the charactre screen, so that is one way to disable sexual content with a girl i think... but it would be better if i could actually choose this as the MC and tell a girl "hm please dont get sexual with me, were just good friends" instead of a button in the menu.

Overall i like this game, but Melody was clearly your best work, by far. DMD is getting better with every update, iam looking forward to the finale.

Sunshine Love need a bit of polishing here and there, and has to get more serious soon for the relationships. At some point the MC shouldnt be able to play the field so openly like now. Its obvious not a harem game and no girl in this game would be ok with it that the MC has a thing for another. (only exeption are maybe ashley and trisha) Yeah the sister does say its ok that the MC is playing the field so far... but not in the end.

In my opinion the time has come to "choose" one girl to get a more serious realtionship in the next update or two.

Lol. I really don't like their lower-lip-disappears rendering. That expression just needs to get dumped, whatever formula they have plugged in to the software to get all characters to do the same facial positioning.

Also, are those stairs in the background? Are they leading into a wall? And if so, are you supposed to climb onto them from the side?

OK, I actually will push back on this a little. Those look to me like you go around on the left side, walk behind the lowest step, and climb up. To me, it looks like there is just about enough room to walk behind and the up, so I don't see anything wrong with the stairs at all. The perspectiving looks fine to me.
