Got to the point where you look over the paperwork, and then have the choice:
Figure it out
or
Leave town
Curious, I saved my game, and tried "leave town."
I'm very disappointed.
You say why you plan to leave, she begs, you agree to stay, so the game can still happen.
One near constant in all of these kinds of games is that the MC is a pushover who lets things happen to him.
I understand the entire plot of the game is "you went to your long lost half sister, and stayed and helped." I understand that leaving negates the entire story, and ends it.
The choice still matters.
You should be able to leave, even if it ends to a game over scenario.
"Explaining how being lied to and manipulated shattered your trust in her, and how your financial livelihood and your long term relationship was throw into turmoil by moving down there for a job that didn't exist, MC grabbed his shit and went home."
Then, depending on relationship stats with GF (there really should be some), you get one of two post games: one where your relationship falls apart, and one where you manage to scrape by, fix things, start the new job, and you two end up happy.
No sex scenes, no... rewards for choosing this path. But at least it would be there. If choice is supposed to matter, and the MC is as conflicted as he is, making the choice to leave, even if it cripples and ends the story, still is important, because it gives players control over the MC's choices.
