After speed reading through a good chunk of the thread, it seems there is a lot of animosity toward Thim. IMO, though, he is not a bad guy.

During academy days, I saw him more of an Ice Man (Val Kilmer) to the MC's Maverick (Cruise). Similar to that rivalry, a "by the book, believe in the chain of command" type guy will naturally despise the "rebel looking for a cause, doing things for shit and kicks" type, which TBF, the MC kind of was - whom he believes will eventually get people killed.

Meanwhile, MC's derogatory perception of him as a vain douche with a fast track to the top may have been misplaced seeing that he didn't even want to become a navy man in the first place but rather a doctor to help people. The kicker for me was this:

While no other rich kid (including the MC) gave a second thought about taking and keeping Twi lek slaves, Thim had a different moral stand. So good for him.

It's up to us the player whether we want to keep the grudge going or trying to integrate him as a (possibly) valuable member of the crew.

Here is the spice of all this glorious adventure ... MC has and keeps babes as a scope in life:
Saving them from their opressors, from their life begrudged and dull, form their past.

Not caring for your fellow alien is worse than not getting your sis and tagging along.

Taking a stand with the Mc is all we are supposed to get from peers.

MC is in a battle for the stars and his crew ia all in the front lines with him,
so any slack is bound to get everyone in trouble.

Keeping the peace and all those fantastic babes yearning for his attention
is all any humaine being could hope for in their life.

Keep loving such wonderful babes and game 4 the stars!

Thim is okay. If anything I believe it was Camran's fault that the animosity between them started. Being the rich kid and a "rebel without a cause" and so full of himself to think that stealing a short range gunship to make a rescue mission against a unknown species in a also unknown place was a good plan.

I made sure to make peace between my Camran and Thim when the opportunity arrived. No reason to keep antagonizing someone will be living right next to you in the same ship.

The whole Dominatrix/slave section was incredibly boring, like a half-assed amateur video on Pornhub; noninteractive and poorly acted.

This update seems to have proven my suspicions about Raene right as well so will be ignoring that path from now on.

A common issue with Ren'Py has to do with the install path of the game. If te game is installed in a directory containing characters not represented in the current system language the game will fail to start. To remedy this, please see .

If that isn't the issue I'd be interested in knowing what version of Windows you're both running. Also, does the game's directory contain a log.txt, error.txt or traceback.txt? If so, I'd be interested to know what its contents are.
Wow, thanks for this man! The game folder was named with underscores "Tales_from_the...." and it would not start. All I did was remove the underscores and it worked fine! Weird. :)

Damn, I got my hopes up for a early Jan released once I've read "Episode 7 to a couple of my proofreaders" but it seems like we're still a bit far from the next episode :\

By the bye, anyone else think that the attack on Lanan P-10 that started the game was actually orchestrated by the Sovereign itself to field test one of their secret spliced soldiers creations - timed (by those well above Calista's pay grade) specifically to coincide with the Academy noobs arrival so that they would be cannon fodder for the test?

- Lanan is adjacent to the Sovereign Naval Academy HQ itself, so pretty much in the heart of Sovereign space. Not a fringe/border system for a random loot and scoot raid.

- How does a race with melee weapons-level technology even able to jump in-system, lurk, and take off again with what must have been a sizable fleet to attack the entire surface simultaneously w/o being detected by any Sovereign defense assets whatsoever - including a g'damn Battle Cruiser we know for a fact was in orbit around that moon. Add to that tech to jam communications on a moon-wide level and it suggests they had help, (maybe even being ferried by the Sovereign themselves.)

- Completely lackadaisical response and zero concern for casualties (locals and cadets alike) by Ypotryll once alerted. No marines? No academy trainers interested in the well being of their cadets? No medics coming down with the shuttles?

- Of all the orders that Sovereign command could give to the TGN Ypotryll post raid; (a) Intercept and attack, (b) Pursue with all speed and attempt boarding rescue, (c) Detach secondary ships to shadow, (d) Follow but do not engage etc. It was "Just return and we'll talk about it later." Uhhm ok then.

Smells hell'a fishy to me.

To top it off, you don't send elite assassins after deserters. If you want to bother at all, you send the Military Police. Elite assassins are for when you don't want them to somehow actually succeed in finding out where the Amazons are...and one only wants to keep a secret secret if one is actually in on the secret - the Amazons are not some lost secret experiment gone rogue, the Sovereign know exactly where they are.

Well .. top gun had some wonky pilots there going rogue.
Some other movie where john travolta steals a plane with the ordinance comes to mind.
Watching any number of star wars latest movies, a lot of mutiny and hyjacking going on in space.
It is a big space and resistance nut jobs rise up all over.

Then again, palpatine and vader had all kinds of wonky ideas, when you think about it.
In black hawk down, some soldiers actually voiced their concirns and looked at the command decission to
send troops in broad day light for some prisoner extraction as sending the soldiers to slaughter as cannon fodder.
Remember what happened in that star wars movie where the rogue fighter pilot decides to drop bombs in space
(yeah, that was some wonky gravity gooing on ) supposedly to kill enemy bombers, only to reaslise they had tons more coming.
Bad choices coming from command happen in usual training / guerrilla / resistance fighting drills
or terrorist attacks all the time.

The Bloodhound certainly shares similar suspicions:

I'd guess something like The Expanse, with certain shady govt. officials being involved.
- Lanan is adjacent to the Sovereign Naval Academy HQ itself, so pretty much in the heart of Sovereign space. Not a fringe/border system for a random loot and scoot raid.
Except Celine says Lanan is on the fringe?
Code:
We were flown by the Battle Cruiser TGN Ypotryll to a dreary moon in a system neighboring the academy
...
c "I bet nobody expected an all out surprise attack so close to human space."
Though if both statements are true ('Sovereignty' is the collective term for human space) then the academy isn't in the heart of Sovereignty territory either, which seems odd.

The deserters fled Sovereignty space, can't send Military Police to systems they have no jurisdiction in. Need spooks to do extraordinary rendition even if everything were above board (Bloodhound says capture is the goal). Though I agree it looks like some in the Sovereignty are involved.

While no other rich kid (including the MC) gave a second thought about taking and keeping Twi lek slaves, Thim had a different moral stand. So good for him.
And all that accomplished was that she became a second slave for his brother. Who will surely treat two slaves even worse than he was treating his first one. If he was totally blindsided by that outcome then he's naive; if he anticipated such a result then he just didn't want to have to deal with it. Some moral stand.

I want to believe we have strong women chars on our trip to keep babes feeling important and womanly in here.
Please do not smear the dom fetish with bdsm or slave degradation, because that is a different kink.
Only place for any slave fantasy is in the bedroom or between the sheets, playful, daring but lovingly tasteful.
