This game is a really enjoyable for me. The perceptions of the people in this world are obviously being manipulated. We know that the manipulators see the human race as a threat, but we don't have all of the pieces yet. For one thing, it would appear that by the laws of magic in this world, that it would take an incredible amount of energy to achieve this kind of obfuscation...and you can see that the magic is straining to retain control of everyone. The MC and his companions actually (IMO) have a pretty good chance of breaking the spell, because the spell itself is under a fair amount of stress to begin with. I think the trick will be for the MC to determine where the best locations are to to disrupt the spell. It may be one location, but it could also be multiple locations that need to be taken down...much like a network. Taking out a router may put strain on a network, but the network will try to compensate for the loss of a single router by working around the loss. Eh...something to consider.
