Seriously just how dumb are the people using patreon? just create a simple demo that meets the BS patreon has set forth and distribute your actual game here sure it kills the pay wall so no more levels of goodies unless you post renders to each group again just don't give info on those renders and patreon can't do squat about it. the one game you do post there complies they can not say boo about anything you don't post on their site.
So... your question is how dumb are the people using Patreon that they don't just give potential backers no incentive to give them money?

There are ways you could get around guidelines using a secured private site(there are devs who do this) but that is explicitly forbidden and if anyone decides to turn around and rat you out it seems like that kind of thing would be met with harsh punishment.

Nope not saying that at all the primary game is Never on patreon the only stuff on patreon is a nice complying game demo. the game you get supported for is released not on patreon that does not give patreon any leg to stand on since you don't link the two together. if you think that the people who patron you will just bail because the patreon page doesn't have the game they want then you'd be seriously mistaken they are supporting the development of the game they see and they usually see it outside of patreon to even know it exists in the first place. whats on patreon is pretty much irrelevant to their support

to be more clear about it. lets say you make video's on how butterflies travel the world and have a patreon page relating to that specifically. you getting patrons who support you because you make great renders of butterflies on some other site has no relevance for Patreon does it?

The Patreon community guidelines explicitly state "you can’t use Patreon to raise funds in order to produce pornographic material." It doesn't matter where it's hosted.

You're not allowed to post links to the stuff that violates the guidelines either. So how would new patrons know where to download the game?

thats where the complying demo comes in. that is the only thing on patreon. you can quite LEGALLY add a link on your actual game that SPECIFICALLY states you have a patreon page which contains a demo for a game you plan to develop that is (whatever the demo is) and if anyone is willing to support that project. never saying anything that relates to the porn game separates it from patreon which complies with their terms

i don't know why people (especially non-Patrons) are bitching about the changes. if your livelihood was on the line you'd sing a different tune too.

I look forward to 1.7 and continuing the story with Meghan!

please go ahead and show me where the number of patreons comes from PATREON searches? the vast majority of people who will support a project come from outside where they see the product in the first place. this forum plus a few others generate the traffic that see's the games

The people who hide their content like this mass email their patrons with the links. All it would take though is one mole, or one disgruntled patron to report you and you'd be done for. It seems to me like this kind of intentional subverting of the rules would not be looked on kindly by Patreon.

I'm not sure how you think the complying demo angle helps. So you have a demo for your game, then you have the actual game with the same name and themes present in the demo, only you host it off-site. Clearly the offending content is being funded by the Patreon campaign featuring the demo, which is against their community guidelines.

so let's put what you just said to the test shall we?
you produce something on patreon you comply with their rules correct?
you have a day job it happens to be being a gigolo.
does your day job have anything to do with patreon?
can they terminate a complying page because you have a day job they don't support and is not part of your patreon page?
legally speaking they don't have the standing to force you to do anything outside of what you submit on their site

the Demo is not part of the original game its a different project all together but quite compliant to patreons terms.
you can advertise that demo all you want it just happens part of that advertisement happens to be on the game people are actually supporting and the advert is specifically said to be about the complying game demo its legalese but it stands up even a lawyer could use it in court

That analogy makes no sense. There is no connection between your job and the project. There is a clear connection between the demo for a game and the game itself.

So then you have to advertise your fraud all over the internet in order to draw potential patrons into the page. And you think there's not one person who's going to report you for that?

Not sure how many are aware of this, but the supreme court has already ruled, that virtual porn is not real porn, and since no persons are harmed in the making, it does not violate real porn restrictions or illegality. Google court ruling for virtual **********, not advocating, just informational. "The court ruled today that Congress went too far when it passed a law that treats computer-generated pornography as the real thing."
By no means supporting what crap Patreon is doing but you are referencing the SC of the US. In other countries, such as my own, Canukistan, virtual portrayals of underage will still get you arrested. Not sure about incest but it wouldn't surprise me. This applies to even portrayals by people OF AGE who are only pretending to be underage. *sigh* Love my country but some of our court decisions are really fucking weird.

my last post was specifically about that you got the demo part incorrect in that the demo is not of the actual game but something completely different and compliant to patreon terms. you would be completely removing the game people support from patreon all together. it would have NO link besides being where you advertise for the demo on patreon.

there is no fraud. you are getting patrons though advertisement making a complying game demo and if you so chose a reasonably simple game is not fraudulent. the point being Patreon has no say in WHY someone supports you. as long as you do NOT advertise the porn game and ONLY ever speak of the demo and development of a complying game they can't say boo about anything that is not on their site and they can't legally stop you from advertising that demo where ever you want which includes the actual porn game.

Let me get this straight. On Patreon there is a demo for game A. The demo has a link to a non-Patreon web site. On this other website, game B is hosted and can be downloaded for free.

Why would anyone go to Patreon and pay to support the development of the demo?

Now I'm even more confused. So you're saying that you're going to go on Fenoxo or wherever and advertise the game that is the complying game demo without referring to the non-complying game, which is completely different? Then isn't anyone who pledges to you then going to be expecting something like the demo?
