I only just started the game, but I went back to the prologue's first H scene to find some examples.

Turns out, almost all the succubus's voice lines are misplaced so it didn't match any of the text.

That explains why it didn't make any sense, so maybe the translation isn't so bad. Hopefully they didn't botch everything the rest of the game.
So, the problem so far is that the audio isn't properly synced up with the text? Rather than the original text being mistranslated?

I'm asking because there's a pretty big difference between the two. The audience that needs the translation in the first place lacks the ability to understand said audio as more than gibberish in the first place, for the most part, after all.

Either way, if you're willing to go through more of the game, do let us know. From the way you worded it, it sounded like they'd completely re-wrote the story and whatnot...

This is sadly true, they kinda increase in quality as time goes by, as this one shows, but they're very samey, from characters to gameplay to scenes.
Did you even play it?
Gameplay has changed quite a bit: there's no party, MP is replaced by SP (needed to use skills, recovers automatically), you have "pet" in the battle (has passive debuff for enemy and can attack or defend), h-attacks are changed to quick-time events (so if you trying to keep heroine "pure" you can avoid them), manual leveling with currency (semen) is replaced by XP, stat boosting with semen is replaced by talent tree (so you can customize your "build"), they added difficulty selection - hard mode actually provides decent RPG gameplay and you can lewd the heroine without making her overpowered (at least to some degree), they added "action dungeons"...

For acerola game - there's a lot of changes in gameplay. I'd say AC:Valhalla changed less compared to AC:Odyssey than Tear compared to Collete or Clair, lol.
Hentai content is very similar but this is how most japanese devs operate - they have certain style, cover certain fetishes in their games, etc. You basically know what to expect when you buy their games which is both a good and a bad thing.

Well i have to say its one of their weakest titles so far. And i played all of them.

Really?

Could you expand on that with some specific examples? I don't know a lick of Japanese, and wolf-rpg games are notoriously difficult to hook up or work with in general, which is why they rarely get anything in the way of translations.

So hearing that this wasn't translated properly is pretty disappointing...
In several places I've seen boxes instead of text. I'm looking into if this is a BOM issue or what. I may recompile and release my own version, I can compress things better and save about 200 MB on a 1.2 GB file (so around 15% savings with no loss in quality.) I did note the font was missing for me, so maybe that's why I was seeing boxes, need to run across them again and check.

Unlike RPGMaker MV, messing with this requires using the Japanese version of Wolf RPG, and most of the code (variable names, function names, common scene names, comments) is in Japanese (which I don't read so well anymore, my last Japanese class was around 20+ years ago) so I don't think I can give people the option of hiding the loading screens.

So far I have only seen/heard that issue with the first scene, though admittedly I only had few voiced scenes so far. Now while with my limited skills I hear that the TL is liberal, it is by far not on the level of NekoNyan where "Eroge? What's that?" becomes "Eroge? You mean those Chinese porn powerpoints for dudes?". (Liberal Translation becomes readily apparent for anyone when a short sentence becomes long or vice versa~)

I have to wonder where the hell is lumiere neck.

They considered making her Hydra Lumie, Mistress of BJs!
Then the drugs wore off...

You know what, female protagonist is that's what it is
No? There's lots of games where content is from events or questlines and sex isn't just a game over punishment.
In several games sex is a game mechanic you can use for healing like in Crisis Point where you tease enemies.

Complacency like that is why overall game quality is so low even outside of Patreon and porn.
If you demand nothing there's no expectation to meet, a developer won't waste time and money doing better when the lowest common denominator just wants a quick fap or a casual shooter. It's why Patreon projects take 99999 years to finish, there's no deadlines or overhead and sure it's mostly hobbyists but money makes things matter and the complacent consumer just forgets they're feeding a stalled milking machine.

You keep your low standards, I don't need em. Ramble ramble.

Does finishing it and getting all ends count as "playing it"?
The story and progress are still linear, you fuck to get cum to power up, you get quests (odd jobs) at a "guild"/store, the heroine looks like a standard Acerola heroine, you need different costumes for different jobs and obviously the naked costume is the most powerful.
Standard Acerola.
Also miss me with your AAA ubisoft shit.

Gameplay has changed quite a bit:
>there's no party | this isn't new, a lot of Acerola games have just the main character with optional party members
>MP is replaced by SP | this isn't new, that's just a relabel of MP, it works the same as other Wolf RPG games
>you have "pet" in the battle (has passive debuff for enemy and can attack or defend) | this isn't new and contradicts your "no party" statement, it's just an AI party member that isn't optional
>h-attacks are changed to quick-time events (so if you trying to keep heroine "pure" you can avoid them) | this isn't new
>manual leveling with currency (semen) is replaced by XP, stat boosting with semen is replaced by talent tree | also not new, you can purchase skills with semen in other games, you can also power up with EXP in those too, like in Claire
>they added difficulty selection | which does nothing but change a few values like Skyrim's idea of "difficulty" yes please turn down my regen.. oh nooo....
>they added "action dungeons"... | uhuh....

>For acerola game - there's a lot of changes in gameplay. I'd say AC:Valhalla changed less compared to AC:Odyssey than Tear compared to Collete or Clair, lol. | No it didn't, and funnily enough I don't have a rebuttal to comparing it to AC because those games are formulaic as fuck just like this one. Also "what about"-isms are shitty arguments.

Some times that I did not follow the release date. Didn't know it was finished translated and released. =P
But... How the fuck this one is released before Demon Queen Melissa? xD Did they give-up on it? It's originally the same studio (Acerola) and Demon Queen Melissa was announced ... 2 years ago... something like that... T_T Despair fill my goblins heart... I want to be in comunion with my Demonic Mistress... And it's impossible if we talk 2 different language. =P

While reading this topic about Acerola's games I can't disagree with both sides. I mean their games are decent and stuff but they aren't much different. That's undeniable. Somehow with one scene this game won me over. I was pretty sceptical until I went for bad end (is something wrong with me?). I just wish it wasn't that easy to corrupt Tear.
Wait, in the end I forgot about my point. And that is: is there any other well-known studio that does quality stuff and it actually gets translated? I know only oneoneone and I can't say I enjoyed all of their games.

First of all, I only mentioned what's different in gameplay compared to previous acerola RPGs, no matter if those changes are good, bad or if something like this was done by some other devs (that's not the points, we are talking about acerola specifically).

1. Party: from their RPGs only one game had solo heroine like this one (Knight Cynthia iirc).
2. MP->SP: it's not like MP, it's completely different mechanic - it's more like "TP" (technique points), except it recovers with time instead performing actions, taking damage, attacking, etc. MP gives a pool of skills to cast during the fight and you can spend one turn to recover it with potions to continue using skills while SP adds resource management mechanic because it recovers only fixed amount per turn.
3. It's not AI party member because it has 2 in battle and it's invincible - also, which other acerola game has it?
4. Quick-time h-attacks and also lack of ero-skills in new in acerola RPG (which was the point of discussion). Previous RPGs have random h-attacks and heroine gets fucked right away, while in Tear you can avoid it completely.
5. You don't purchase skills with semen in other acerola games - you get them via leveling and you can't pick what you get. In this game it's separated and you have to choose how you will progress in the talent tree (or grind everything but who has time to farm in a porn game).
6. Difficulty: well, it's better than nothing and it allows gameplay to stay relevant even if you lewd heroine a lot which was an issue in their previous games. You actually have to "play" the game even if you make the heroine a semen demon.
7. Action dungeons: while they are not great, it's a mini-game that offers a change of pace to normal gameplay.
8. Shitty arguments or not, I don't know what kind of expectations you have and what kind of innovation you expect from an indie porn game where gameplay, let's be honest, is just an addition to porn content.

Also, don't get me wrong - this game is not great, even for acerola standards. It's more of less the same shit again, which is kind of disappointing because you'd expect at least a bigger improvement. But if you say that gameplay is the same, I will disagree because it's actually the part that changed the most compared to their previous RPGs, even if those changes are not really good - at least not all of them...

As you can probably notice - newer games have a priority and everything else is probably worked on when they have free time.

Standard Acerola japanese h-rpg.
You can probably count on one hand all h-rpgs released in the recent year that do things drastically different, instead just making cosmetic changes to the formula.
From 2020 I only remember recent Pray Game that was both good and different (and the only h-rpg that made me regret lewding heroine to the first monster I met...).

There's some weird argument.
Similar mechanic with different story from one circle is their selling point isn't it?
That's not supposed to be the reason to not play it. I know for sure that noone decided not to play new Pukiman games because they're all literally the same games in different skins. This isn't really something that needs arguing.

There are tentacle rape for sure, your first dungeon is call Insect Paradise. If you lose to normal mobs(there is rape during combat too), you will be captured for a certain big mob to impregnate you with eggs and give birth on the spot before you get rescue.
Oh nice, thanks for the info.

Is that the only preg scene? I know there's some tentacle monsters in level 4 but I don't think they do pregnancy.

No there's a small preg scene with the nypho win. (No birth, just oversized belly)
