It's... okay. Don't get me wrong, saying it's okay by Acerola standards means it is still miles better than your average HRPG, but compared to their previous titles it feels lacking in the H department.

The H scenes are very repetitive and same-y, and though that was always the case for Acerola games this time around it's accentuated by the fact that there's no ally system, which translates to way less variety in characters and scenes. On top of that, the clothing system is still a downgrade from Claire's, something that already happened with Colette, since you can only select full outfits instead of pieces, and I place a LOT of importance into clothing systems in games, so it leaves a bad taste in my mouth knowing one of the best ones I've ever seen isn't being used going forward.

From a gameplay perspective it doesn't feel that much different from his 2 previous games, with a couple additions such as the action RPG part, but it still holds up on its own. While I generally don't give a shit about the story in H games, the writing is surprisingly good.

While Claire and Colette are S+ tier games in my book, Tear is probably low A tier. Kind of a shame tbh.

That's actually a pretty decent way to sum it up.

I do quite a bit and I'd say Tear has some of the best scenes for me. Maybe not all, in fact I didn't enjoy quite a lot of them but for example "bad" ending was pretty damn good. I liked how they didn't forget the ribbons for example. And boy, I'm nuts for things like Tear did there.

So Wolf RPG is a PITA when it comes to cleanup/translation/fixing things. Very little of the code was in English meaning integration of new updates should be easy.

I did find text for both Brave Alchemist Colette and Phantom Thief Celianna as well as a number of unconnected maps (looks like the library was going to be a real maze, but they dropped that.)

That all said, I have here a gift:
Change Log for Tear and the Library of Labyrinths
1.00.1
Bug fixes and quality of life improvements
Fixes
  • Sometimes in the text you see a box instead of a ♪
    • Missing font for task screens
    • Added the icon on the executable
  • Fixed PNG encoding on some files
    • Used mogrify to clean up PNG image (not following standard, causes warnings)
      • This does increase the image size
      • 720,764 bytes 793,108 bytes
Enhancements
  • Data compression
    • Sound files
      • Using Opus instead of Vorbis
        • 525,968 bytes 248,252 bytes
    • Image files
      • Used optipng to recompress the files
        • 793,108 bytes 700,400 bytes
    • Total Size Drop
      • 1,261,164 bytes 972,172 bytes
        • Almost 25% less space with no detectable loss in quality
  • Splash Screen
    • Skip splash screen on F12/Return to title
      • Skip splash screen on startup by moving config.dat into the Save folder
  • Text
    • Changed Wet Tissue to Wet Wipe (which makes more sense)
Not Fixed
  • Pink bar during seduce going all the way to the right hand side of the screen
1.00

Note: This is not an official release, it is my own version. I've done some testing, but it is possible I missed a corner case.

I tried out your version and it seems like when using the Heal skill from the menu the text that pops up is in japanese.
ScreenShot_2020_1113_02_43_07.png

On a diferent note looks like KG just released a new patch to fix squares instead of text and some other issues:
Patch v1.01
-Fixed an untranslated message showing when using a healing skill through the menu
-Fixed voice lines getting out of sync during a certain scene
-Corrected a button tooltip in the menu
-Fixed some item descriptions getting cut off in the clothes shop
-Fixed various instances of untranslated text
-Fixed a missing sound file error
-Fixed some scenes displaying incorrect conditions

Would be nice if someone updated the dl links in the thread with the 1.01 version ventually.

We can always wait and see if @ボスB. - 毛皮でほしかった manages to get a updated version of the game first. (not sure how to tag someone properly without actually quoting them).

Some of those bugfixes look like something that can be hard to fix without knowing exactly where to look, like the supposed desync of voice lines.
So i would say to wait a bit and see if someone uploads 1.01 .

Yeah, I spent some time in windbg trying to find how they are validating if you have the steam version or not.

Basically without the offical Script.vdf you cannot install the "steam patch". I still don't know how kvsignatures is calculated, so I think I'm stuck.

Yeah i was doing some tests myself with no luck.

Either someone shares the 1.01 installer from jast or fakku , etc etc.
Or someone shares the steam game and it can possible be cracked.

The patches is the reason why i feel people shouldnt name threads as "Final", because well... they arent.

Put this in your Tear folder, and the patch will install. (Extract the zip file, F95 won't let me post a vdf file.)

Or download it directly here. This is the official v1.01.

Not sure how you managed but its better to keep some secrets anyway.

But i tip my hat to you. Worked just fine.
Once you're to the level of procmon/windbg then even memory of the running application is open to you.

I have some testing to do, but I think I have my patches applied to v1.01

Well, if you're willing to run , it looks like the v1.00.1 -> v1.01.1 patch could be as small as ~2MB instead of 900 MB (once I'm done testing.)

Edit:
So it won't have the ChangeLog or Patch Notes, but you can run:
courgette -apply Data.wolf patch_1.00.1_to_1.01.1.dat Data2.wolf
Then replace Data.wolf with Data2.wolf

Download the patch from:
