Beta 2 for Version .14 is now available to those with access. Release notes for it are in the download post.
A Question I have for all of you, regarding the file size of the game.
Version .14 has introduced over 1000 new renders to the game. It's the biggest update I've done in regards to the number of scenes in the game. This is great, but poses a problem in regards to the games size.
Currently, the download stands at 1.5 gigs. That's pretty big in my opinion for a game of this style. On my Dev rig, the game is actually over 7 gigs, so I already do alot of Image Trickery and compression to make the game as small as it is for you folks.
So I've been toying with an Idea. In the development process of "Raising Coceter" (The tentative name for Anya and Arya's spin off.) I've wrote a set of code that allows me to read and write to XML files so I can record choices you make in the game, and read quest data on the fly.
My idea is to use this same code to record the choices you make in each Chapter, and then release each chapter in it's own separate game. Then you'd just have to copy this file from one game to the other to import your choices from one chapter to another. Something akin to the Mass Effect series.
So rather than download a 1.5 to 2 gig file every time I update, you only need to download the current chapter, in its own game. (Each chapter would probably be a 300-400 meg download, but finished chapters would only need to be downloaded once.)
