Thanks! (y)

So we & Antonio literally just found out about him not being the real son & he's thinking about it straight away.
In isolation that's quite understandable.
But in the context you mention, with Antonio being angry that Straffan disrespected him, I see where you're coming from.

I guess Wilfred shooting Straffan possibly cooled Antonio's jets? Straffan got what he deserved, so it's dealt with.
Hold on, he's NOT his real son?? Wow, I've known him for years & never saw that coming.
That's a very good point, maybe he already got his satisfaction from Wilfred blasting his hand off !!! Makes a ton of sense.

Yeah, kinda "Disrespect me? That's what you get, bitch. I don't even need to dirty my hands."
Satisfied, then needs no further thought.
Yea I can totally see him thinking that and then closing that chapter and then he goes back to "oh so he's not even the real son."

Are you guys for real? I live in Sault Ste. Marie, french. My best friend is Simione Carlucci, itialian, this is NA we're a fucking hodge podge of europe both names of people and of cities.
Yes, we are for real. North America is a hodge podge of names, no disagreement there. But that also serves to make it more probable that it is not NA we're talking about - why is there nothing with English, Spanish, German, French names in the game? Almost everything is Italian. Sure, it might be possible to find some place in the US which was settled predominantly by Italians and thus they are more common in names. And also need a lot of crime families, so it can't be just any 2k settlement. And again, the architecture of the town is decidedly European, not American.

And given that there is no hint at all why it should be NA, no reference to hockey or gridiron football or similar, why not go with the way more probable deduction? Also, Hopes himself said that while he explicitely avoided to name a country to be able to have some artistic freedom, it is heavily based on Italy.

Just because some creators move their stuff to the US - to appeal to a larger audience, or whatever reason - does not mean everybody does. Some things still happen in Europe.

You forgot the most obvious indication that the game does not take place in the US, there is not a single mention of "We've put a fucking flag on the moon !!!" and we usually can't go a week without rubbing that one into everyone's faces :D

The game seems to be outright broken. I am told to visit Gina's Tavern to retrieve Wilfred's Wine Bottle, and even after I do it and save, every save after puts me right back on the menu, and I have to visit Gina's Tavern before I can do anything else. How do I stop this?

I really don't understand what's going on, I started a new playthrough very recently and I've never run into any problem, but you are like the 5th person to complain so ... I don't get it.

Let's see if I can help you anyway. Download the save attached to this post and put it into gamefolder/game/saves, I picked page 16 as to not conflict with any saves you may already have.

On the save only the mission you mentioned is done, the rest is untouched, but I also grinded some money from contracts already, consider that a gift.

Now the only problem is the MC's name, I changed mine to First Last, but I assume that won't do for you, so go here download the attached zip file and unpack it in gamefolder/game.

When you then start the game and load the savefile, hit ALT+M together, a blue window will open with tabs on the top. Click on the Search tab and enter povname then hit enter, it will look like this.

a864d1c7c27b82c31e00e52d9dc20889.png

Click on First under Value and change First to your preferred first name, then click change, then X that window.

Go back to the search tab and enter lastname this time, then same procedure as with the first name, after that you can close the blue window.

I hope that'll get you going.

The MC had to either be born, or Rina had to have been visibly pregnant, for the MC to be included in the contract as a punishment.
Hmmm, I'm not sure that MC's contract is a part of the punishment for his Mother's actions.
Could well be, but what if it's something Cordia drew up?
Knowing Rina's mental state (before exile!!) & with the guilt Cordia feels, perhaps she wanted to help her old friend, by protecting her child?
Maybe even protecting him, from Rina herself?

From how I understood it, only the Pacifactories can exile someone from the entire underworld, so that the ban works both ways. The MC must've been already born or Rina must've shown, otherwise they would've had to first ban her and then go back "Oh and just for the record we want that kid too" :D

As far as protection, Cordia is certainly very fond of the MC and not just because she is a LI and we will get to fuck her eventually, but she gave the MC all the freedom and she lets him get away with more things than anyone else.

But I still think they all messed up, the dmg to the MC was done, he despises his parents and slowly mends now that he has people who care for him.

They should have taken the MC from birth and gave him a proper home, but again, it seems probable that it was entirely in the Pacifactories hands and outside DeLuca control, we know for example that Steadfast wrote the contract.

That only works if MC's contract is part of her punishment.
I do not really see any reason why the Pacificatori's would write a contract which assigns an exile's child to the Family she was exiled from, as part of her exile.
Depending on the child, that could end up being more of a punishment to the Family, than it is to the exile. ;)
Isn't that in the game ? On two occasions we get the information that the contract is due to the crimes of the MC's parents, they would have to have been commited while still being part of the underworld. I mean maybe they allow for double punishment.

You know my favorite theory for this ? As I said before Rina and MC's father teamed up and attacked some family and killed a lot of people, including a child of a higher up, maybe even a Don. That Don wanted their heads and Cordia said "No, Rina is pregnant, as a punishment she will forfeit the child as soon as it's of a certain age. The child is innocent, we, the DeLuca's will take care of him." So basically a child for a child. And with that promise they also had to guarantee his safety, hence Antonio's worry that something happens to the MC.

If you or I wanted to draw up a professional contract, we'd probably take to a legal specialist, before getting it signed by the other party.
Could be the same with Pacificatoris.
Go to them with the terms, they write it up & issue it.
Maybe the contract can't come into effect, until the MC is an adult, 18. So they couldn't just take him as a babe, they had to wait.
That would tie into him being 19ish.
It absolutely does tie him into being a lot younger than I thought. And good shout on the contract part (y)

Good point.
But, don't forget, "due to the crimes of the parents" still stands.
The only reason Cordia has needed to draw up the contract, in the scenario I proposed, is because of his Mother's crime & exile.
So it's still due to the crimes of the parent(s).

Yeah, I like that idea & it definitely fits with what we know about Rina...

What we need to figure out is why the MC's father was allowed to leave them and return to the underworld.

I mean that has to mean the Pacifactories thought that Rina crime was more severe, right ?

Or, maybe it's because MC's Father\burned out Serpent manipulated her into commiting it & he did not actually take part in it.
Which ties into why the Family all hate him & feel bad over Rina.

I would like to submit my (/s) irrefutable rationale for this being set in the USA

Floaty

My man is:
Thick in the head ... like err ... a rock
He clearly feels he is ABOVE all others (check the screenshot)
Obviously intractable (no flexibility)

These are HALLMARK traits of the people of the USA
So I rest my case

Case closed

That's it and that's that

;)

That's a possibility for sure. The MC's father is being described as being manipulative, and if they are one and the same, it fits like a glove.

That's the first question that needs answering :D

I'm still trying to puzzle out how the Elektra info fits in, first saying he was a civilian employee working for the underworld and then saying he was NOT JUST a civilian employee. Nobody would ever say it like that, if the first part wasn't true also.

Like you are not just a real good forum buddy, you also love the game the Deluca Family :D

I expect most crime bosses need some form of legitimate looking outward appearance.
Perhaps being a civillian employee was his cover identity?

She also said she does not have high enough grade to access the information needed, so perhaps she can only see his cover ID, not his real one.
Hence her suspicion. The limited info available has caused her to question its validity.
As most normal people have a ton of info available on them.

Think of "not just" as "more than".
As in, he's not just good, he's the GOAT.

I don't know of any towns in North America where the local crime family is hailed and looked up to as the princes of the city. They may have been looked up to at the beginning of the 20th century in Italian neighborhoods when Italian Americans were still considered "non-white," "filthy papists" by the WASP majority and needed protection from the those in power in the overall city, but this doesn't seem to be the case in Luciana. With every generation, the American Cosa Nostra moved farther from their Italian roots. This particular form of patronage does not feel like North America to me at all.

I don't know of any town in italy where that's the case either. From what italians tell me they don't fucking like the mob. Whether it's in NA or in italy.
