Regarding the audio, I'm at a fork.

I'm unable to generate a new voice that sounds as good as this one. I've been trying it a lot since I started the project, but nothing sounds as natural as the narrator's voice. The audio is a time sink, and I would like to spend more time on the visuals.

So I'm currently considering :
  1. One voice for everything like currently. (Since it will be less linear, It doesn't fit the "audio book" style)
  2. Only the the voice for the narrator and Nara
  3. Only use the voice for the narrator
  4. Only use the voice for Nara.
  5. Remove the audio (I really don't want to have to do that)
The downside of voicing Nara is when I introduce new female characters, or maybe I should use the voice for all women and just remove the men from the equation.
Maybe I could just use one voice like previously and give the player the choice of where to activate it.

Ai art (at least for now) always gives a weird feeling on the characters. There was another game here on the forum that was similar, I can't remember the name, but the author recently gave up and quit, it was too many hours per week adjusting and correcting stuff to be barebly coherent and all that for a dozen patrons :cautious:

Thanks; I hesitated to tag it like that or not. There will be interaction (undressing in a scene etc) and there's already a bit of exploration, but no meaningful player choice, so it felt safer to use Kinetic Novel.
Trust that there are many of us who prefer KN versus grind-n-find. Good storytellers are few and far between. This lack is what leads your typical porndog to convince themselves that, somehow, they are in charge of the story if they're given a half-dozen preplanned, predetermined choices to click on.

A good storyteller captures their reader's imagination and leads them into another realm where they become caught up in a work of art. It's the difference between van Gogh's "The Starry Night" and paint by number. We don't all have to try to be van Gogh with our storytelling, but a good story is a good story, you can't diminish that.

Yeah, if his motivation was getting a successful Patreon, I can understand why he gave up.
Don't get me wrong, I would be thrilled to have a lot of support and I'm very thankful to the few patron I have, but that's not the reason why I'm making Solaria.

I really enjoy learning new things in general, and AI image generation is improving so fast that there are new tools to learn nearly every month. I've always wanted to improve my coding knowledge, and as you can see from the posts here, I'm challenging myself step by step following the feedback here, and I'm moving the goalposts each time I improve enough.

I made the renders in December, and AI has progressed by leaps and bounds since then. Better models (mostly for the bodies) and tools exist. Instruct-Pix2Pix is cutting down my workflow by a lot. Cleaning up images and generating what I want is much easier.

I've greatly enjoyed putting together the story, renders, code, and audio and getting to see my vision being told, as humble as the VN is.

I'm also sharing it for free; that way, I don't feel like I'm betraying anyone if it doesn't live up to something they paid for, and I feel less pressured to release something quickly. It's done on my free time after all and it's limited.

The feedback I've received here, both positive and negative, has already greatly helped me make something way better than my initial goal.

I'm in that group too. I mostly use walk-through mods and or cheat on grind fest games with stats etc and having to redo the whole game because there's branching path is far from my favorite.

How I see Solaria going is still a linear story, and each stage of the story is unlocked when the player has seen all of Nara's events (and more characters in the future) or at least a certain number of them (a corruption level of sorts even if there's no number).
After progressing the story, the events with Nara continue, etc.

It's just that including all of Nara's events in a completely linear story is a bit limiting; that's what writing chapters 4–7 taught me.

Ok ty , do you plan to include animated scene or your work with AI make it hard to do it? (or no time, or just not wanted/planned)
AI is awful at consistency, it's even worse for animation since there's elements that change aspect very quickly, giving a weird effect. It look good for some use but NSFW not so much.

But AI is getting better at it and when the time come, I will at add some animation. I've even got a plan to create my own animation using VIrt a Mate.

Copied straight from joiplay, line ends there
I've copied it to another IDE, erased the empty area after several line, could you tell me if there's a difference ? thanks

Joiplay seems to see the "Â" character when it's not present, weird.

Had a go at porting Ch 1 - 7 to Android.

Got some basic gestures loaded in: swipe up for save menu, swipe down to hide UI, swipe left to rollback and swipe right to skip.

Please let me know if you encounter any issues with the port and I'll see what I can do to get them sorted.
