It's more complex than it seems. Some people call me a cuck dev who wants to let my girlfriend fucked by others in real life (people on fap-nation say that). But actually when playing NTR games, I don't consider myself as the MC.
For Emily & Alex, if you consider you are Alex, it means you play the netori route. The problem is that people are so obsessed with being the MC in the game. For me, when I play babysitter, I consider myself as Silver or the black guy (forgot the name).
I know people will say that I'm dumb because Silver (or Alex) is not the MC. But actually, they can only fuck the girls if the game players choose that route. Or I can say, there is no MC when I play games. All of the scenes are under my control.
I don't think my patrons want to let their girlfriends to be fucked by others in real life. I don't either.
People play as the MC because the character they can handle. To say that you are the others is like saying that when you are robbed in the street you consider yourself the robbery so you are not a victim. Sorry, you are a victim. The other is like when you have a hard time going to the mental palace to isolate yourself. It is simply an escape from pain. But the pain is stil

Only problem with NTR games (with avoidable ntr, hard ntr hames tend to have a stupid male as husband/boyfriend who is very impotent in a lot of senses, that why i dont play ntr, unless is avoidable) is that the author want to end both route together, ntr and romance and every update u get near zero content. With this game i will follow the romance route all the way, just hope i don´t find some 'forced encounters'.

One of those scenarios describe something that's actually happening to you, with actual risk and stakes for you; Possibly life ending. The other describes fictional events in a game with no actual RL stakes what-so-ever.

The difference between the two is considerable and relevant.

I'm of the opinion that people are free to sympathise (or "play as" if you will) with whomever them want in these games. Imagination is great, you can do whatever you want in it. At its core, the "MC" is merely a tool to navigate the story with, anything else is in your head.

What if one day, a colleague, asks you to let her stay at your boyfriend's place? She tells you that she needs someone to act as her lover so that she could be able to stay back. As a woman, will you let her do that?

In real life? Just a 'colleague'? No way in hell!

As the player of a porn game, HELL YES!

Not being Emily (or a woman, for that matter), somehow it doesn't bother me. Makes it more convenient for the MC. And maybe I get to see girl-on-girl action, or even a 3-way!!! Real-life logic be damned! :ROFLMAO:
