The Last Barbarian Rebirth - Brothel Release Notes
I'm happy to announce that I've finished working on another major part of The Last Barbarian Rebirth! The Brothel Location!
Indoor scenes lights and shaders.
I spent a lot of time working on the lighting workflow for indoor scenes. I aimed to find the best possible balance between quality, performance, and stylization. I hope you'll like what you see. Figuring out the optimal placement for light sources, objects, reflections, and other elements was quite challenging, but I'm personally satisfied with the result.
Dialogue Component.
In the classic version, I had a rather powerful dialogue component that allowed for checks on various parameters and triggered the necessary events.
Unfortunately, after two months of searching, I couldn’t find a suitable asset in the marketplace (they were either too overloaded or lacked the necessary functionality). So, I decided to take the simplest available one and add the required functionality by myself.
Now I have the ability to trigger events and display certain scenes depending on the completed quests, or show the necessary dialogue branch.
For example, in the dialogue with the brothel owner, the dialogue and cutscene change depending on the barbarian's holes condition.
Clothing System
Unlike the classic version, Barbarian doesn't automatically undress before the start of an H-event. Instead, the clothes she’s wearing are moved aside to make her accessible for intercourse.
I'm also working on functionality for future releases that will allow clothing to impact gameplay.
For example:
- If the Barbarian is dressed as a civilian of Devenant, the city guards will let her pass without issue.
- A prostitute's outfit will provide a boost in earning satisfaction points, while shibari attire will earn more points during BDSM scenes or encounters with opponents.
- On the other hand, the Barbarian won't be allowed into the tavern if she's dressed too provocatively, and the guards might even throw her in jail for appearing indecent in public.
Sex activity journal
It becomes more detailed and I might expand this system further as I add more content.
For example, a "Cumshots received ml" counter tracks the actual amount of liquid that lands on the Barbarian's skin.
SEX RPG
Now, all H-scenes will no longer just be a series of animations. Depending on the character's stats and the condition of her genitals, we will earn satisfaction points.
What are satisfaction points? They are a universal indicator of the success of a particular event.
In the Brothel, the amount of satisfaction points will directly affect your earnings as well as the popularity of the establishment.
There can be many scenarios.
For example, do you want to escape from prison by seducing the guard? Make sure you can satisfy his needs, or you’ll end up with an extra week in the cell.
How are satisfaction points calculated?
For instance, in the missionary position:
After each thrust, a virtual D20 die is rolled, adding the sex skill to the result against the sex partner's level. If the roll is successful, a second roll is made using the Vaginal Sex Skill. If both rolls are successful, you earn a satisfaction point. This continues until her partner reaches orgasm. The speed of orgasm reaching depends on how tight the Barbarian is.
How to level up the skill?
Whenever the Barbarian performs an action, she levels up that skill. It's that simple.
Currently, a basic mechanic has been implemented, which needs to be balanced and expanded.
Standard for H-Scenes
I've finished working on the template for H-events. Now, each scene will allow you to switch between first-person view and free camera mode
Additionally, for each scene, there will be options for inside and/or outside money shot.
Scenes can be varied and offer choices between positions and penetration options. They can also be influenced by the Barbarian's stats and items. For example, if the Barbarian inserts a butt plug, anal penetration will be unavailable.
Gloryhole scenes and "training" do not add satisfaction points, as they are focused on "leveling up" skills.
AI for NPCs
I’ve been working on making NPCs more than just static quest givers; they will now perform certain routines.
When entering the brothel, the client can drink beer, relax in a chair, use the glory hole, or relieve himself.
The dialogue with the clients changes depending on the action they are performing. Additionally, you can interact with the client while they are using the glory hole.
Saving System
I've opted out of automatic saving. Therefore, in the new version of the game, all saves will be done manually. Currently, there is one available slot, as I haven't completed everything yet. I plan to finish it by the next release.
Release Limitations
This is a very early build, so I want to address a few nuances right away.
- When starting the game, press ESC and then the Reset button to create a save slot. (I haven’t fully figured this out yet, but I'm confident I will.)
- To save progress, press Save.
- If a client bumps into the Barbarian, they will push her away. (I'm still working on pathfinding for NPCs, which is quite a labor-intensive task.)
- In the game, you will see blue boxes; these are interaction points for NPCs (it will be removed in shipping build). Glory holes with beds are currently unavailable for interraction.
At the moment, the release is
available for Priest+ patrons.
It will become accessible for
Cultists on October 6.
I don’t plan to publish this release publicly just yet.
