This never got the chance to have all the things DLC has. I also much preferred this over DLC.

It may have those things yet. It isn't truly abandoned. It is oh hiatus until the other game is done. Then the dev said he or she would be back to this one. Give it time.

Best wait for DLC to finish which is nearly done, maybe another year, then he'll return to SOM. For now, I'm quite enjoying DLC, especially the Steph and Ellie routes.

It's definitely getting towards the end. But I'd guess it's still a little bit before WhitePhantom finishes it.
does anyone actually believe they are going to go back to this game years later after finishing their other game that supplanted this?

Yes, I actually believe WhitePhantom. You don't have to, but there are actually people who believe they will return.

Exactly this, I don't think he will revisit this game either. (Personally I think this game is better than Defending Lydia). In this game you can see hints of the idea's he had and then decided making a different game which would suite those idea's better. (Such as the random actions scene's which look out of place). It means this game is obsolete.

I think they might start it again from the beginning. It was a good product (imho a lot batter than Yawning on Lydia Collier")
I like it too, which is why i asked the question. But yeah it makes more sense to start from scratch at this point years later if they do go back to it.
