You can start over, or you can play from the saves which are included with the new version. Every new release includes save files so that you can start from the place where the previous update ended. Saves are not compatible between versions for this game.
Which means that we are starting again almost from the beginning.

Did you even read my post? I clearly stated that each new update includes a save which starts from where the previous update ended. If you're starting from where the previous update ended, then you're obviously not starting over from the beginning.

yeah except that's not true, the save files advance past the previous version and cause you to miss content if you use them.

You are incorrect. I use the save files with each new release, and they start where the previous release left off. If you are missing content, then it means that there was content in the previous release which you didn't complete.

Nope. If I load up the 55 enchantment save in version 0.83 (current), which should be at the end of .70 leading into 0.75, there is scenes already done that are in 0.75. If I load up the 47 enchantment save, which preceeds 0.70, it has already moved past some of the 0.70 content. The saves don't follow the content by release order at all. Combined with the numerous bugs in the game, it's pretty much impossible to play through the game. The story and art is very good in this game, but the programming is absolute crap and ruins it. Deacon needs to hire a programmer or learn to program.

I can't tell you about the earlier saves following release order or not. What I can tell you is that the latest save provided with each new update begins where the previous update left off, which is what you need, in order to continue the story from the previous version.

My advice, if you want to replay content from older versions, is to play an older version, or to start from scratch in the new version. Or wait until the scene gallery eventually gets fixed, if it ever does.

I'm pretty sure I played the 0.75 version at one point and the latest save was not where 0.70 left off, but regardless, you can't even download the old version anymore anyway. The subscribstar links for old versions are all removed.

Oh and starting from the beginning is also not an option. The game is too buggy I had to get save files from others just to get past bugs that prevented me from continuing. Finally I gave up and just played the renpy version up to 0.70, but I can't get any further than that now due to not being any proper saves from that point. The whole thing is just a shit show.

As I've already said, I play each new version when it comes out, starting with the latest included save, and they all start where the previous version left off, at least since V 0.60. I didn't really keep track before that release. If you're having a different experience, then either you must be loading the wrong save, or you're using an unauthorized version of the game, or you're encountering some strange bug.

Well, if you play the Ren'Py version, then I'd say you get what you deserve. Play the version that the developer releases. Yes, some unfortunate people do keep running into game breaking bugs, but I've replayed the game from the start in at least three different versions (including 0.70 and 0.80) without any problem.

I started a new game to do another play through and sorry to say as much as I like the game... it seems like there are issues earlier in the game that I do not remember being there... so I am not sure if the new updates affected earlier content or not.

Yeah, I tried starting from scratch a few times just to check on the flow of it, still seems a bit buggy here and there. Thank god for previous saves built in.
