On second attempt, lowering the money does trigger some events, but then I get stuck entering the lower room of the bar, the "event player" screen pops up and freezes game...

People seem to have issues with that, try deleting the mod/redownload the game.

Finished a quick playthrough. Really appreciate your response. It's a good game and the navigation didn't make me want to kill someone. Not bad at all for RPGM.
Ok so unzipping the game again and letting it overwrite everything fixes it, at least so far the scenes are showing!

Click on the crystal and at the bottom you should see if there's anything you missed. Also if you have done everything so far your savefile should be at 14%.

i have it at 8% and crystal says there is nothing but i tried to go to alia and screen got stuck in the end of conversation dunno how to fix it

If you are using redmod to cheat I don't think it has been updated to latest version yet. Other issues could be mixing a compressed game with a uncompressed update. Both of these cause bugs. Try removing the mod/redownloading the game.
