Thanks for your reply. I forgot a key point in my post though, sorry. I have the game app on an external hard drive. Will that make a difference to where I need to put them? Because I tried Application Support and it didn't work.

It makes no difference, the saves will be stored in Library/Application Support which btw is a hidden folder on Mac.
Here's what I've tried. Full folder with the saves at the top as well as just the save files loose in Application Support.

your attached screenshot doesn't work. However, start the game and try to create your first save then search for it.

RPG MV can crash if you got a potato PC with no RAM. Especially if you leave it open for a while and play a lot of movies/scenes
Any help with this " 'use your machete in the park to uncover a key for the hidden item in the cave area where sofias crew got trapped ' " I understand the clue and where you have to take the key once you find it but i've searched the entire park for an area to use the machete and can't seem to find it. Any help is appreciated

I suspect that the hardware you are using does not meet the requirements for this game.
Insufficient free memory, graphics card too slow. Too many other applications open.
