They agreed to the screwjob for his own safety. Did they go about it the wrong way, totally yes. But at end of the day that mistake also cost them. Rage all you want, still got family that need you, forgive, but never forget. Seriously, any of you ever had a fucked up family or been in the military. A lot of that shit should get quashed far sooner then later.
Or you end up with what you got here, that in the end fucks everyone up for the long haul. If that's route he's going, fine it's his story to tell. But wish they decide if our MC is constant idiot, douche, family man, etc.. Pick some things, this guy all over the damn place.
If we are playing a story of a military man with PTSD, please announce that up front, with someone that has PTSD, Anxiety, Depression. It's like flashbacks of stupidity all over again. But at least I try and work on it, if this a story of someone who has that stuff and cant/wont work on it, then tell that a bit clearer.
As for whole betrayed thing with Deb, he doesn't even sit down and some point and just listen the reasons. Good or Bad, he should at least hear those out and then stand there with his thumb up his ass and finger in his nose, cuz our MC is a dipshit. But least he heard and can use his tiny damaged brain to maybe figure something out. But apparently that would force him to confront his own bullshit, which the writer isn't conveying very well atm if at all.
