While I understand that, this dev never gave that hint so far. And all his releases have been quite good.
LOL, hints. There was one promising game dev in Turkey who had a lot of family members die in an earthquake a few years back. Another one, who had probably the most exciting game for me at the time disappeared completely w/o explanation after complaining about working two jobs for a month (he was posting weekly dev updates as well).

The more you drag out the game, the more likely something unexpected will happen.

Development update

Let me tell you, doing the audio for the lewd scenes is quite something. I basically have a folder of ~300 files per character in where I skim through all of them to find the best fitting moaning, slurping and sucking noises for any specific render or animation and after a few hours of getting blasted by those on repeat you definitely end up just a tiny bit less sane than before. Its definitely one of the best parts of development.

In regards to the actual progress now: I did get done implementing all the music into the script although that's kind of the smallest part of the whole audio thing. Actually finding good music that both fits the scene and is copyright free is probably the hardest thing about it. For the sound effects I didn't manage to get through all the scenes, but I was kind of already suspecting that I won't. There are only three scenes left but those have quite a bit of lewdness which means that there are still a lot of lines of code ahead of me. I'm also doing the ambient and the lewd sfx in one go this time around as I mixed up some of the audio channels last time by doing it separately, which caused a few sounds to loop indefinitely.

Anyway, I will be able to finish all the audio stuff sometime within the next week. After that the last step will be proofreading and bug testing. One thing I still haven't done yet but which I intended to do is to rework the gallery and to implement a walkthrough mode. The walkthrough mode definitely won't happen for the initial release of v0.9 but the gallery rework I'm not quite ready to give up yet. For now I'll leave it to see how long proofreading and bug-testing will take.

Well sometimes shit happens, but it's hardly frequent enough that it should be considered in this particular risk assessment.
And when it comes to the second point, well as hard as it may be to accept, game devs are still just humans. It takes a lot of patreon support to be able to fully support a full time developer in a western country. And working two jobs is just hard. There's no way around it, it's stressfull and draining. And when push comes to shove and you just can't continue this way anymore the thing that you well abandon will be the job that doesn't pay the bills as opposed as the one that does. If you want this to not happen, the only thing you can do about it is to support the dev in question yourself.
There's of course also the third variant. The dev who managed to go full time and who over time starts to slack and release slower and shorter updates. There's lots of potential reasons for this. Maybe they're burned out from working on the same project so long. Maybe they are scared. Their entire livelihood depends on the patreon support for this one game. If it gets finished who knows if the patreons will stay. Look at 395games, the developer of "The Mist". He's shifted right over to a new project and has delivered regular updates in a high visual and technical quality for that new game and yet his patrons have only continued to decline since the release of "The Mist", since a lot of people don't like the characters as much as they liked the ones in The Mist.
Not that that's any excuse to start milking and stalling your games development, but it is a sensible fear that is rooted in reality.

Not sure what was it that you understood about the dev in the second case, but I suspect he died, since he did not close patreon, discord, nor offer any explanations - just disappeared. My point was not "hey life is hard", but let's politely ask the developer to try and release the game as soon as quality is good enough because life happens, and there might not be any hints.

The quality of this games visuals is pretty great as it is (there are a few cases of visually displeasing images, like the Mya's ass in day 5) and it is not the main thing that should be improved, the ambient sound and music is great - gives a playful atmosphere, the plot is great/good. The speed of delivery on the other hand is a problem. For me (as someone who really likes this game) - its a big problem.

And there is a lot we can do about it (see my comments in Baibai's SS). For example: a new tier for alpha testers. I want to get the game as soon as possible, and would be willing to pay more for an early release and would contribute to testing it. Why not do that? Because of the overhead in managing alpha testers? Great, let's discuss. Another thing: translation - Baibai creates text in German, then translates it. Should the translation really take 2-3 weeks? Can we help? Can it be done with DeepL? Need more ram, better GPU, UPS, something else? - I would be willing to contribute.

There is a lot of shit we could do but as long as all the supporters are happy, you can't even bring up problems since no one sees anything as a problem.

I don't think telling developers that they could die any day now is really productive or in any way shape or form condusive to getting the game faster. If they take you seriously they just might as well not release it at all, because why waste your limited time on earth developing a porn game for people that value a few hours of smut more than your life.

New tier for alpha testers. But: It's a renpy game. Unless he develops a new stat screen or phone interface or something, there's really not that much to test. It uses the same methods over and over again. There's not that much that can break. So the alpha test wouldn't be that far off from the main release.
Or do you want it when it's unfinished? At what stage then? Before translation? before Music? Sounds neat, until it is leaked and then you get tons of people bitching and moaning about the "poor quality" and "rush-job" production. They even did that shit with when gta 6 was leaked with obviously unfinished assets.

Translation help I would be down with. I offered to help myself since I speak german. But it's not that easy as well for baibai. What should he give to translators. Translation requires context. Pure character dialogue wouldn't always be clear for a translator without the visuals or what happened before. So what content does baibai need to give the translators. The more stuff he gives out, the better the chances are of getting a good translation. But also the higher the risk. Translators could just leak the unfinished game, spoil stuff about the update, etc.

And deepl is a horrible suggestion. I would rather not have a garbled mtl translation thank you very much.

So, yeah. There are options to speed up production, but it's also not as easy as you claim it to be. And in any case, while baibai comments here sometimes, he's not here frequently. If you genuily want to offer him help, write in his discord.

OK, bye. You clearly are completely unfamiliar with the topic or with what I wrote. I mean even the first two sentences are complete nonsense.

Alyvia BEST girl without debate. Then ms clements is second, then Steph and last Jacky imo.
I would put the Victoria and her mom above Steph, but tastes are tastes.

You speak as if every dev gets hit by an earthquake lol. C'mon mate, after some time it's clear when a dev lacks comitment over a project.

I'm very vocal when a dev is giving shit excuses to the lack of development. This one isn't at all, is being pretty fair so far.

If there was a tiermaker for the game, I'd have Jackie, Ms. Clements, and Alyvia all top tier... and probably alphabetized so I didn't have to pick a preference.

Majority of the best games this year 2024 are having slow updates or delays
Sexbot is only top-tier game to consistently deliver (Full House/Cabin by Lake too, but they're not top top-tier)
Ces't la vie, at least all games are not Bone's The Manor or Snow Daze :ROFLMAO:

It's amusing to see how people can't understand examples that illustrate a general point. I almost literally spelled out that developers not showing "hints of quitting" or "lacking commitment" is not the only reason why games get abandoned - life events happen.

Anyway, fuck speed of delivery. It's absurd to argue this against everyone. I hope the game will not turn to AWAM, Disorder or so many others, that were promising, started scope-bloating or something unexpected happened and then had 2 releases per year ... or fewer.

I agree with you but Baibai has been very good with how meaty the updates are. He on average posts an update like roughly 3-6 months with great success. how you said it tho there should be a higher teir with even earlier access for people that want it as soon as the renders are rendered lmao.
