I wish I knew the circumstances that led to him ghosting, but understand he didn't owe us an explanation. I'd like to think he got an awesome new job that left no time for Astrid and he's now living his best life.
From past comments by the developer and others, DRG was working on this game to make some extra $$ while attending college. I believe I remember DRG posting that after graduating he may or may not continue working on this game, depending on what type of job he manages to land.
Since he hasn't been back in 4 years, I'm guessing he got a good one. Also he could now be in a relationship with a partner that wouldn't care for him working on a porn game. Or he could've lost or deleted the game files & art assets.

I dont want write much or anything anyway i believe those was his last renders-it's been so long- before disappearing .....
As I recall, the last renders he posted before ghosting us were the one you just posted with the moonlight streaming in the window, plus two renders showing Astrid in a garden with a faerie. He said that the faerie was a new character who would be introduced in the next update, which never came, of course.

As popular as this game seems to be even after this long, I am a bit surprised no one has tried to continue Astrid's adventures.

There's lots of reasons, but a significant one is that Astrid's character model was heavily customised by DRG - it's not an off-the-shelf one like you see it lots of games. People have tried (as evidenced by the fanart in this thread), and some have come close, but have never managed to fully replicate DRG's Astrid model. If you can't get the model right then honestly the rest is largely irrelevant.

There's that, plus the endless grief such a developer would suffer for trying to give people what they want for free. Every little difference will provoke endless whining, and no story extension could possibly avoid people bitching that it isn't good enough.

You can't imitate Shakespeare and you can't imitate DRG.

Yep. Without knowing how DRG was going to progress Astrid's story, and without his art assets, anyone trying to add on to his work would almost certainly fall well below expectations from fans of the game.

It would be better for someone to start a new project inspired by Valiant Warrior Astrid, and hope it turns out to be a decent successor.
