So... I just figured out I need a Master Degree from MIT to use this... :cautious::rolleyes::sneaky: ... but why should I be surprised!?? Made in Unity... takes all the issues from Unity, the less intuitive Engine out there.
UI Design is not a joke, you know, it has its rules and even when you break them you still start from them. Unity itself it's like Blender... it gives you no clue of where you're supposed to look at and go to start doing your thing. The very opposite of what happens with Unreal Engine and, for example, Cinema 4D... once you get into them you always end up looking into a direction that leads you somewhere already in the first 3... 4... 5 minutes, and could spend hours doing stuff with no need of help, no need to google a single word about it. You're never lost, good sense and some logic are all you need. Well... at least that's how things worked for me.
I've spent 1 hour in VAM and I still dunno where the basic controls are, what they do and how are supposed to be handled. I didn't mean to come here and complain, I actually thought I was going to share some enthusiasm about the new toy. I can only hope somebody gives me a direction, a hint about the most valuable guide about how to use VAM without messing around , before I put a tombstone on it and get back the huge amount of space I can use better installing something else.

PS: Kudos, by the way, to whoever actually does things with VAM and to who has shared and shares so much content for it, because I can truly appreciate the efforts and the generosity, specially considering the astonishing amount of resources shared all over the place. I really hope I can change my mind and still give VAM and myself a chance. Peace!
You can enjoy the game without really knowing how to work 90% of the fancy stuff under the hood. If you do decide to invest some time in it, it becomes the one porn game to rule them all, in my opinion. Just check a couple of basic tutorials for the controls and start diving into some premade scenes, when you're comfortable with the basics you can start swapping clothing/model presets in some scenes you like, then you just keep adding one aspect at a time until you're at a level you're happy with.

I would say it took me about 20 hours (not counting the ridiculous amount of time I spent finding assets and scenes! :D) of tinkering around to get to a level where I can pretty much do everything I want to do with the game. There's probably hundreds(?) of hours of premade content where all you need to do is sit and watch, maybe move the camera and click a button here or there.

1. Download a scene you like
2. Download an appearance you like
3.???
4. Profit!

Don't try to create animations and stuff at first. Just grab some content. You will need to put the .var files inside "addon packages folder". That's it. Appearances will also be scenes. You open it, go to appearance presets tab, save it. Then load one animation scene, go to appearance presets and load it.

In my signature you can find some content I liked for VAM. Maybe you will like it aswell.

I can't find it, please someone help me, trying to control character positions with the vanilla system it's horrible
Broski this is not a support group for your questions. If you want to learn about the systems you download read the instructions before you download. Having said that, the mod you are looking for is in the pose preset tab. Look for a file in there by appetitevisual (the creator of the mod) and then just load the mod.

Anyone here familiar with VaM packaging internals? I am trying to figure out how to get the version number given a var file. I cannot find the version number in the meta.json file. Instead I have to parse the version number from the file name which is something like AUTHOR.PACKAGE_NAME.VERSION.var. Is there a better way?

Hi,

Just a couple of questions, if anyone can help.

1, Have ran this a lot over the years without a problem. Decided to run it more recently and it seems that (with a creator key, to latest version updated) I dont seem to be able to run the selected scenes? It drops back to the main menu instantly, before even trying to load? Any ideas ?I'll keep reading and seeing if anything else works.

2, Is there a quicker way to unpack more than one scene for example from the package manager? Seems a bit naff to still only select 1 at a time, wait, then do the next?

No, that's the only way, and the correct way.

I dont seem to be able to run the selected scenes?
Without any more details, it'll be almost impossible to help you. What version of VaM are you using? What scene are you trying to load? Have you tried to reset all settings to "Default" before trying? Have you tried using a "clean" VaM setup with just the scene you want to load and see if it works?

Is there a quicker way to unpack more than one scene for example from the package manager?
Why do you want to unpack anything from within the package manager in the first place? You should definitely not do that, as it's not necessary at all and will make your VaM installation unmanageable.

I thought I had said, but I'll be more specific on the version, Im using the latest version 1.22.0.3.

Appears to be any scene, except the default.

I've used the patch.exe to verify the Core Integrity, Sync / Repair Core so far, but that hasnt helped. I'll see if the Repair All does anything.

Hmm, news to me, didnt know there was another way. So how do you personally installed downloaded scenes (from this forum)? Ive always extracted the RAR's, revealing the .var files then placed those in the AddonPackages, which then make them viewable in the package manager to select and unpack.

Let us all know if you can of the way you do it, as im doing it clearly wrong but never seen any other docs to explain the ideal way.

Cheers for your time.

Strange and Odd, but seems to be ok now. Im able to run scenes... maybe a glitch, but it wouldnt run yesterday or this morning, but have quit several times and seems to be ok now.

Let me know about the unpack process, if you have time, but this is the way ive always done it and its been fine. I dont use too many packages, so its never become a real problem.

If you download scenes etc. as *.RAR or *.ZIP archives, you just need to extract them (which should reveal one or more *.VAR files), which you then put into the AddonPackages subfolder of VaM -- done. As soon as you put a *.VAR file into the AddonPackages directory (or any subfolder of that directory), they're available in VaM.

Again, there's absolutely no need to then open VaM, go into the Package Manager, select the package and extract them again. That's why the package format was introduced. To keep it simple.

Interesting.

The scenes (certainly those that I have seen, downloaded, extracted, copied the var's into the AddonPackages folder) didnt used to show up in the Scene Selection screen unless they are unpacked for me, via the package manager. I am certain this is the case, but I'll re-check of course.

OR maybe this is how it used to be a few years back and the updates have changed it... could be wrong, but pretty sure thats what I recall reading about it back in 2020 or sometime before... Thanks

Cheers for your help, at least I now know.
Whats the key? Also does the key work for newer versions of the game? And is this a virus?
1, The key(s) are listed in the OP if you care to read it.
2, Yes. These work for latest versions.
3, Is "what" a virus? If you are referring to VAM, then no, assuming you obtained it from a reliable source.

Hi Guys.. need some quick help!

Recently every time I open a Cuddlemocap scene and hit play the male explodes to a different position. The scenes used to work perfectly and I've reset all user settings.

Any idea what could cause this?

Dude, chill out, my comment was not an order or a demand, it was just an expression of frustration for not being able to find the place where I should look. I apologize for not expressing myself properly and causing this misunderstanding.

If you want to learn about the systems you download read the instructions before you download.
Maybe it's because English is not my mother tongue, but I couldn't find a way to activate the mod when I read the instructions, I wouldn't be asking if I understood it. I have already installed several mods, read their instructions and they all work, I have a particular problem with this one.

the mod you are looking for is in the pose preset tab. Look for a file in there by appetitevisual (the creator of the mod) and then just load the mod.
by pose preset tab do you mean this?

You could run it in desktop mode to get some idea of your gfx cards performance before committing to a VR headset, but it's unclear if you have the card atm or not.
So like. right now I got a rx 580. if I install the newest drivers cant play VAM.. with 2 years old ones runs well. I was thinking that maybe someone here got a newer amd card and runs VAM with the newest drivers, and those doesent give them problems.
