While I dont think you are wrong it does not really explain it why this game in particular? There are a lot of games that have better graphics/story/characters but with not even a 10th of the patreon size you know. Pure luck maybe? The game got picked up and then just word of mouth spread it around?

It seems a little odd to me as well, but around the time I first came to this site I was also checking out certain discord servers. I seen a lot of people asking about games that are similar to SS. I ended up checking it out a little, but it wasn't for me. I still scratch my head wondering why its so popular, but I tend to think it really is (or at least was).
