Yeah this is one of my favorite things about this game, the MC seems like a decent enough guy. Drugging, blackmailing, and sleep-raping the girls is waaaaaay too common in porn games for my liking.

I completely agree with the ones above me. The MC is a pervy but very lovable guy. I wouldn't want him any other way. Finally having a genuinely nice guy is so refreshing after the countless rapists and scumbags you usually play as in these type of games.

He does spy on the girls without their consent multiple times, and there's sleep-rape as a planned scene for at least Celestine, Gomira, Madeleine, Anne, Holly, Lana, and Maple. Let's also not forget when you're railroaded into groping Lana's titty in her sleep. Just saying.
(Personally, I'm not bothered either way by the predator-rapist MC. In theory, I would like it, but I've yet to play a game that really leans into that that makes me feel powerful instead of just a creep.)
The thing that makes the protagonist better than average, IMO, is that the author is willing to make him the butt of jokes. Too many writers (not just in WEGs, but in general) are too precious with their MCs and treat them like delicate little flowers.
You're right, I guess I sort of forgot about those parts as they are absent later on. I hope the sleep rape that is planned is cancelled, as that would certainly go against my vision of the MC.
All of the sleeping content will be consensual.
And we made a point of making the MC apologizing to Lana after grabbing her boob without her permission and saying that his moms would have been very disappointed if they knew what he did. Luckily Lana isn't the type to care much, and there will be no other scenes similar to that.

It's what happens when stuff is written in a believable way.
Meanwhile the majority of games will have you believe you can assault a person in their sleep and they'd never wake up. The messed up implication is that if fine if they don't wake up. LewdLab's games are a prime example of this. My guess is it's a poor means to provide sexual content at the start, but it's still inexcusable.

...How? An unconscious person can't consent. Not unless it's a, "Go ahead and go to town on me while I'm passed out, even though I don't get to experience any of it, I get off on knowing that my body was used like a limp fuckdoll while I was unconscious" thing, which is... weird. Just feels like a way to avoid getting reported to patreon for noncon content.
And I wouldn't say anything about that... *if* it was something the player initiated. But even if you specifically choose the other thing, he ends up overriding your choice and going for the boob grope anyway. Furthermore, this is a work of fiction where literally everything being included is the deliberate choice of the creator. In this context the apology honestly just makes it worse, because it's insincere.

I have no doubts that the developers know what they are doing. They have done an amazing job so far and they know one of the best parts about the game is how lighthearted and chill it is. Thinking they will just go the rape route because a lot of games decide to do this shit is weird.

Lol, how do you figure that when the creator just told you it was a sincere one, after MC realized he fucked up ?
My take is that they deliberately choose to lampshade other games that do this type of thing where the player gets away with it.

I mean the sincerity of the author, not the character: If they really did regret the inclusion of the content, it wouldn't be there at all, or at least it'd be avoidable. There'd be no need to make excuses with "yes there's this one non-consensual interaction but it doesn't count because the MC felt bad and was really, really sorry." (Note also that there's no such excuses or apologies with when he spies on Myrtle or Serena.)
I don't want anyone to misunderstand what I'm saying here: I don't care about it being in the game. I don't want it removed. (Though, if an update made it avoidable, I wouldn't complain.) I just want the creator to be honest about what their game is and what's in it.
If that was the intent, it would have been better to do it like this:
*player picks the "grab her boob" option*
MC: What!? I'm not gonna grab a sleeping woman's boob! What am I, the main character of a porn game?
The script has made these kind of fourth wall jokes before (Serena's "Your actions are being controlled by a being beyond this world" line, for example.)

Every 3 to 4 months, give or take. The last update took 4.5, the next is supposed to be a little bit shorter.
We do have some plans for the sleep stuff, but you'll have to wait to see how we do it. Hopefully, we can make it work, and if we can't, I have no problem removing the sleep content altogether. One thing for sure is that it will not be added to the game if it feels non-consensual to us.
The MC's grabbing of Lana's boob together with his apology and response is from 0.1. If we didn't like it, thought it didn't make sense, or regretted it, as you put it, we would have removed it before the initial release; it was a simple scene and easy to redo. And none of the game choices are there to judge you, the player, for better or for worse, and this one's no exception.
The idea was simple and, at least to me, logical. We wanted to show a bit of character growth: it was the MC's first day in the Old Capital (after the teleportation of the previous night) and the first day of living on his own, being independent, and not having his moms around to tell him what to do or what not to do (that scene was still in the introduction), and we wanted him to make a sexual mistake, get caught, have to apologize for it, and learn that that's not the right way, hence setting up his approach when it comes to touching female characters for the rest of the game. I know the same thing could have been done differently, something that's as true about this as it is about every other aspect of the game, but that's the way we did it, and to us it still makes sense.

At this point you're nitpicking. And not for a valid reason mind you, but just for the sake of nitpicking.
This is not a game that breaks the fourth wall in the way you suggest, and the scene feels more organic the way it is now. I believe it's easy to understand, without the MC having to explain verbatim why exactly it's there. TBH your suggestion reminds me of those forced 'girl power' scenes, which make me cringe, rather than actually well implemented women team ups.
