I feel like the truth is somewhere in the middle here. From what I constantly see, there's people who say that the devs are the worst kind of milkers, and then there's the people who say the devs are literal angels sent from on high and any criticism is Verboten and you should Feel Bad for it.

The truth is that the devs are not very good at time management, refuse to hire on anyone else, and are perfectionists to boot. However, they are not milking people. They very strongly believe in what they're doing, and so the lack of a dev team is a personal choice for them. Cool, that's fine. The fact that they spend something like 1 month bugtesting is because they want to release something as bugfree as possible. Also fine. They offer refunds, and so if people want to support that they can.

However, this does not make them immune to criticism. If people think they take a bit too long with their updates, they are entitled to that opinion. If don't mind, hey, that's fine too. This is probably the worst thread on this forum I've read because there's literally no middle ground here.

you are correct, there is a difference between criticism and accusations though

This is a dogshit add to the discussion, and here's why.
I'm gonna assume Droid is talking about Paradise Lust, the 2d game he's working on. They get 2k/mo on their and have 9 people working on the game.
Magic Nuts gets a whopping 9k and still has 2 people working on their game, so I think it's obvious the development is managed extremely poorly.

I mean, since we're there, check out the amount of content. PL started development in october 2020(looking at when F95 threads were created), and they already have a very lengthy game full of content and actual gameplay. WaL is still a relatively short VN(no gameplay) despite having 5 months headstart and 3-4 times bigger budget. I'll admit I don't care about the game that much(in fact, I mostly come here to laugh at the shitshow), so feel free to take this however you will. The whiners are dumb, the whiteknights are dumb, the paypigs are the dumbest of all for payrolling this bullshit, at this point nothing of essence can be said and nothing really matters. The game will continue developing, but as far as I can see the fanbase is dead. RIP.
The fanbase is not here

The issue is the last 3 big updates including this one have all been late. All three. That shows a chronic issue that isn't going to fix itself any time soon. An update shouldn't take an entire year. It really has been 10 months, wow.

Once or twice or something but the way the game is headed we're looking at an update per year. With the amount of characters this game has (and keeps adding!) and the main story being separate from the character updates, this game will never finish.

I was a massive, massive ardent supporter of this game in the 0.2, 0.3 days. Defended the game here from people like the other white knight types. Now I just don't give a shit since hey the game is free and all. But I really don't get the patreon people. Do they not notice how bad the dev cycle has gotten?

On top of that, the creator has abandoned f95 which I can understand. Gunsmoke did the same with Something Unlimited. F95 can get toxic.

Any, and literally any discord of any porn game will always be an echo-chamber of endless support where no matter what the creator does they will never, ever be criticized. Then again, all the payers on discord so, I guess that's the clientele the guy has to care about. We here just talk, almost nobody here pays

You can't really blame the devs when their payers wanted this. Look at the change log, it used to be 3 sex scenes for version 3 now it's 6/7 sex scenes in v 4 & 5.

If they went back to smaller, quicker updates would we actually be getting more content or would it just seem that way?

The Patreon people are the ones who decided to go for this 'bad dev cycle', so I guess they are happy enough? Different people, different takes on it

They'll be getting even more money and people will whine all the same because updates are short and should be bigger considering how much money they earn. There's always a reason to drop some 'constructive criticism'

Don't Care But Have Opinions.gif
where no matter what the creator does they will never, ever be criticized.
Critcism is fine, but what we get is worthless spouting of opinions.
Constructive criticism is valuable.
There's a difference.

"I don't like this because..." = Criticism.
"I don't like this because, I think it would be better if..." = Constructive criticism.
"Waah, this dev's a crook!" = Worthless spouting of opinion.

Just passing by to say that when you guys see what Magic Nuts put in this update, especially in the third quest, you'll understand why it took so damn long to be made. haha
Let's go!!! just trust the nuts.
The moment when they silenced the whiners back in the Lana update I knew that I can put my trust on them

That implies people actually play the game and not just come in here to cry the free game they don't care about took 10 months for an update they won't play anyway

Follow your own statements.
When the "criticism" is that "dev's milking", there's a bit of a problem.
Yes, but the problem is that literally any criticism is being rephrased by people in this thread as a form of milking, then the words "free game" comes out as if that's a shield. Frankly, I supported the game but stopped when I felt like the dev cycles got too long, and the ambition was too high. I'm just frustrated at the echo chamber this has become.

There are numerous facts that get presented to disprove the patently false "milking" claims/opinions.

The game is free, is one.
The devs offering refunds, is another.
The Patrons voted for releases to take longer, but be bigger, is another.

It's a bit difficult to reconcile any of those with "milking".

"I don't like this because...(=true)" = Criticism.
"I don't like this because (=true), I think it would be better if..." = Constructive criticism.
"I don't like this because...(=untrue)" = Invalid criticism.
"Waah, this dev's a crook!" = Worthless spouting of opinion.
