According to the patreon, any news on update?
Basically there's some technical issues (vram limitations and other flaws Ocean's render setup) - see this post and the fact Ocean is also creating Summer's Gone, which appears to be closer to an update at the moment.Rework state 0.1:
Environment design: 10%
Updated characters: 100%
Writing: 100%
Scenes rendered: 2%
I second this and if I remember correctly Summer's Gone will be the next release before the next release of WIABAccording to the patreon,

Correct plus he now also has 2 dedicated machines for each game to work independantly from each other. Hopefully this will speed both up a little going forwards.I second this and if I remember correctly Summer's Gone will be the next release before the next release of WIAB
According to the notice at the start of the game's current version, it'll be released in two parts.Quick question, is the rework going to be released into 5 segments (1 for each chapter) or in larger chunks? I guess I'm trying to see how far ahead is chapter 7, is it going to be 3 releases from now or more like 6?

There will be five updates for the rework according to the poll result on his Patreon.According to the notice at the start of the game's current version, it'll be released in two parts.
I cannot wait for chapter 7, This story is great..... (*** Not really a spoiler but don't read if you haven't played***) .....hugging Dad and seeing the family there waiting for court was kind of a tear jerker. I Love mom as mute because you can kinda imagine her personality....I keep wondering what her personality is going to be like if we ever get to hear her speak.
Looks like I am going to have to get out the credit card and buy the Dev's a few hundred coffee's to make the Dev stay up later to keep working <3
Given the 2 part rework...and Summers Gone (while fair enough is done on a sep machine)...I think Ch7 will be some time yet. This is why I've not even played Ch6 yet...rather just wait for the reworks to be done first.Quick question, is the rework going to be released into 5 segments (1 for each chapter) or in larger chunks? Thanks, I wanted confirmation due to the conflicting information. I was seeing two someplace and 5 elsewhere. There will be five updates for the rework according to the poll result on his Patreon.
Summers Gone fell into his lap...it was not his idea or creation. He has taken over it (thus why he is reworking the intro so SG). In order to do both somewhat competently he now has 2 seperate machines working on each title independantly. Once the reworked renders and dialgue are done i have faith he will be able to work on both to a consistent degree and within better timeframes.I like this game just as I like Summer Gone, but I have to say, I don't like the way Ocean has planned to do his games, I mean, at this point considering he wants to revamp the game I think it would be more smart to abandon "Where it all began" and focus exclusively on "Summer Gone" (not because I prefer that game, not at all, I like both games), but I really think that Ocean is not going to be able to create two games at the same time consecutively, does Ocean have a whole machine for each game? Yes, but it's still a lot of work for only 1 person and also Ocean wants his games to be long... I don't know, I am not motivated to support 1 project when I know that this project will take years to finish and one of the reasons for this is that the dev is developing 2 projects at the same time, I don't think this project "plan" will go well, I think Ocean will end up burning up and getting fed up with this stressful situation, I think one of the best solutions would be for 1 or 2 people to help Ocean a little with the development of his games, but that's just advice from me, after all people lose interest in things as time goes by and it would be a shame to see this game and Summer Gone fall into oblivion
Actually, from what I know he is the original writer. He wrote the story and give it to a friend to develop while he was working on WIAB. Said friend decided he did not want to keep producing it so he got it back.Summers Gone fell into his lap...it was not his idea or creation. Could be right there Ayhsel...I knew something was with it but that it eventually fell back and Ocean decided to continue with it.Actually, from what I know he is the original writer. I might be wrong though, but I am pretty confident that was the story.
I will probably never hire any people. (At least not in the art department.) Every update, scene and cinematic is already completely visualized in my head and I only need to bring it into the rendering software.I think one of the best solutions would be for 1 or 2 people to help Ocean a little with the development of his games, but that's just advice from me, after all people lose interest in things as time goes by and it would be a shame to see this game and Summer Gone fall into oblivion

Yeah Ayhsel corrected me...I knew was along some lines. Thanks for the update also btw, appreciated.I will probably never hire any people. (At least not in the art department.) Other artists would have a different style and are probably not capable of matching mine.
The only help I will get in the future is a coder.
Summer's Gone is my creation.
I gave it to Regium because I saw how long WiAB would take to finish and I had faith in him. But he struggled and while my quality was increasing, he was running in circles and so I took it back and remade Chapter 2 SG.
The 3090 renders 2-3x as fast as the 2080Ti. Future development speed will definitely increase by a lot. (Also remember that I did cut the updates in half after SG Ch3.)
Another big factor is that I am not using out of the box environments. SG and especially WiAB will feature so many new customized environments in the upcoming updates that I all had to create at first.
As soon as all these environments are done, development speed will increase significantly.
What always wonders me is.. If a dev releases monthly updates with 200-300 renders he is considered hard-working.
If a dev takes 4-5 months and releases 5x - 8x as much content, people complain even tho it's the same or even more.
(I know the thought behind this and the risk of people forgetting your game.)
And a very important factor that many people forget is:
Work doesn't always correlate to new content.
I often spent 12h a day working on the games and only 3h of them will result in new content. The other 9h are spent improving, experimenting, and discovering new elements to further improve the game. (Blender in this case.)
All I can say is to have patience.
Trust me, it will be worth it.
When the amount of renders is the same I'd prefer a shorter waiting time in between updates. What always wonders me is.. If a dev releases monthly updates with 200-300 renders he is considered hard-working.

i think part of this also has to do with perception if you're using patreon and charging monthly. people just expect if you're doing it on a regular and charging monthly, that you also release something monthly. charge per update solves some of the problems, but then leaves dev without a monthly income.... dilemma. the white knighters will fly on in and give me the patreon is support speech and that's fine. but i've worked a LOT in sales; all kinds, garbage, disguised, operational, professional, technical, commissioned and non-commissioned, and people just expect what they expect, and you can't be everything to everybody. What always wonders me is..
