what were those 4 games? I would like to play some quality finished titlesi think part of this also has to do with perception if you're using patreon and charging monthly. people just expect if you're doing it on a regular and charging monthly, that you also release something monthly. charge per update solves some of the problems, but then leaves dev without a monthly income.... dilemma. the white knighters will fly on in and give me the patreon is support speech and that's fine. but i've worked a LOT in sales; all kinds, garbage, disguised, operational, professional, technical, commissioned and non-commissioned, and people just expect what they expect, and you can't be everything to everybody.
the other perception can also be that psychological bias where if something is not constantly around, you lose interest, it does exist, i forget what that's called, but its a thing. the market for these games is absolutely flooded. if its a labor of love or hobby, then that doesn't matter. but if you ARE trying to make it your living, well... you have to grow and have to stand out right?
either way, your games are quality. i love what you're doing. i prefer summer's gone over this one, but that's just personal and subject related. i'm not someone to try to please tho, as i simply do not patreon anyone anymore for any reason. been burned too much by devs who abuse it, or lose interest, or disappear and never finish.
what i do now, is if i see a completed game that i really like (probably been playing all along), that dev for a one shot patron or coffee or whatever will get a triple A game price or better donation. so far its happened four times (will be 5 when dots completes dmd). some people are just talent, pure gold, and deserve it. until then. yar har fiddle dee dee
as for TC, first thanks very much for all your efforts and it is definitely appreciated. However, you have to keep in mind that we are all busy people who do many things everyday, so if a game took half a year to update, even if as you said the update was large enough to warrant it, there is a good chance that a lot of people would have forgotten the finer details of the story by then. I know it happened to me a lot with many games that I stopped playing for some months for one reason or another. and the fact that it takes a long time will make a lot of people not even know when it is out because they would have forgotten to check. I personally think that around 3 months is the most one can have between updates if he wants to avoid this issue. Just my opinion though
