So far, yes, it seems to be common. They also have another game that they are working on (it's all a bit of a complicated thing to explain, so I'll leave it to someone else to do so) set in the same world called "Summer's Gone", which is the next to be updated - and so far that seems to be very soon.

No, not common.
Ocean completely reworking WIAB...hence delay (Ep6 is as it should be, 1-5 is being redone).
GPU issues have slowed everything down.
Summers Gone was given to a friend to do (story/script). Said friend got fed up/whatever/not exactly sure, Ocean didn't want to lose it...so took it back to do it himself.
Both VN's now have their own dedicated machine to work on.
GPU issues have hindered process.
Update for SG is due imminently (days).
Going forward updates should be more regular and forthcoming.

Damn, some one should do a patreon or crowdfunding to buy a 3060-80 to ocean to get this faster!
He has already a RTX 3090 FE but the thing is, for people like Ocean does this not mean faster updates but more possibilities.

You are right, but one is not enough for to games with the render quality it have (and is still the main bottleneck as far as i know and I am growing impatient, a year ago 
)

So the patch says it comes with 3 extra images, what exactly are they?
So Oceans other game Summers Gone is set to get its new update in a couple hours. What does this mean for Where It All Began? Does Ocean now start on WIAB or is it a simultaneous release or what? I was under the impression that WIAB was being remade first before Summer Gone got its new update but since SG is getting its update soon...idk.

well he took like a year to make an update for summer gone so seeing that hes redoing this whole game from the start it should be done in 6yrs........ but i don't think any new content to the story will be released..
(6mts seems plausible cause the amt of work he has to do)
Ocean actually spend a shit ton of time to rework both of the games. Now, going forward, he can just add to the game. Oh, by the way, he has a PC dedicated for each game nowadays, so the updates wont take that long. He can set PC #1 to render, and then set the PC #2 to render and it will still be as fast if not faster than the average game released on this site.
